You guys are nuts.... IMO he's lucky to get what he got... It's an awesome car and that's probably a fraction of what it cost but B-J is totally the wrong venue to sell a car like that... There are no drag racers there, just a bunch of old fogeys with more money than brains paying ridiculous amounts for old chevs...

Don't know what the Buick was worth, but have to agree on the rest.

Seemed to be a lot of museums buying stuff.

rob i highly disagree... thats a full turn key race car.. gas it and learn to drive it and thats it. you can look in national dragster and a turn key car can go from 30k +

I agree. His car didn't belong there. Even Speed Channel mentioned it was out of place. Zap gets the same welcome when he goes to town

47k is what it would cost you to backhalf that car and then do a strut front half, no it's not a "full tube chassis" car, but it is way nice. Once you start to build one of these, you can see why people can easily invest 150k plus. 47 grand is an absolute steal. Hope the new owner doesn't put it in the wall the first time out, I've seen that car get wild more than a few times.

I meant he's lucky to have got that money at B-J... I'm sure he tried National Dragster and other racing networks first...maybe B-J was a last resort

Rob, most race cars in National Dragster are a traditional build, big v8, blower, carb, etc... Who in the world, other than a GN/Buick guy, would want that car? It's a tiny V6 with twin turbos that no one knows a thing about...Also I don't think you'd be real popular with that thing in the HEMI dominated Super Stock class but I could be wrong...

Rastaz, the class john races in is ssdx, it's an experimental class that allows turbos. It's different from your standard super stock class.

Old Mopars The Hemi cars are just crazy in price. That 68 Hemi Dart went for like 192,500 and it wasn't 1005 positive to be a true Hemi. It was built on the proper date but not documention to prove it was 1 of the 80 built. Last year a Hemi Cuda CLONE went for $125,000. This year the 383 Cuda went for $130,000 Thats insane for that car. I'm still a Mopar fan so I keep an eye on them. Just my .02

Come on guys. How many Buick Gran Sports or Nationals did you see on that show. I saw almost zero...That is definately for those with more money than brains. I know there are some sweet cars on that show, but that is also where to pay top dollar...I think you can do better with some time and patience any day of the week, just doing your homework..

That auction is strictly for people with big $$$, that just want a very specific vehicle and have the disposable cash to execute on the transaction, irregardless of what it cost.

I know there are some newer cars on that show, but I still think we are about 2-5 years away from seeing our cars on the auction block. Of course it will start with the GSX, then the GNX, and go from there.

We shall see.
