| Older than dirt | The good: 11.45@141.. New tires helped a bunch! The bad: Blew all the windshield trim off on the 141 run. The ugly: Made 1 run leaving in 2nd gear.. Still went 12.00 @ 124. Actually, I was the ONLY BUICK at the TnT.. About 50 Moosetwangs,, a few Camaros and bikes... Not many ricers.. Out of 6 runs, NOT once did a tang choose to line up in the other lane... We made 6 single runs.Found some things that need attention: 1. Best to use bias tires on the ft when using bias slicks.. Car gets REALLY squirlly at 140+ if you don't. 2. One needs to have the wheel width match the slicks as close as possible.. 10.5 tire and 8" rim is not stable at pressures less than 12psi. I found that the old idea that up to 10" tires, the wheel can be 2" narrower... NOT TRUE!! 3. The Powermaster needs more psi for high speed stops!! Had to use the last turn-off... All in all, a good day!

New tires huh? What are they, Pep Boys $99 special?! 141 mph is mid 9's hoss! Whats up with that? Out of morbid curiosity, what does that 60' look like? Nice mph though. Good street race car, wink wink.

Excellent, Chuck! If you're going 140+, they won't be able to notice if you've got windshield trim anyway...

haha...moving on up, nice run Chuck! hey, there is nothing wrong with Pep Boys tires. they are more forgiving and don't allow for parts breakage! ;)

| Just a bit confused....
but how do you run 141 mph and only 11.45 et? At first I thought maybe it was because you have a 9.50 capable car without traction, but then I saw the 1.58 60' time....will someone please explain? Here's my numbers....1.54 60', 10.82 @ 124 mph....at the 1/8, 6.98 @ 100 mph. |

A car that hooks and runs 9's will average 1.35-1.45 60' times. That will translate into a much faster 1/4 mile time. A 2 to 3 tenths difference in a 60 foot time, for a 9 second car, will usually net a result of 1.0 - 2.0 seconds off your 1/4 mile times (read: traction vs. no traction).

That doesnt make sense to me either. My car went 11.25@121 with a 1.56. You should have run WAY faster than mid 11s. ![]() You sure something didn't blow across the timing lights at 141mph? | |

mph rules not all cars stay hooked after the 60 ft if like my best times my car hooked good thru the 60 ft then hazed the tires pretty hard thru second then gotta grip at the 1/8 mile and pulled its nuggets off which brought the mph back up but the et was lost between the 60 ft and the 1/8 mid 11's at 141 gotta be badass

Your ET vs Trap Speeds flucking kill me . You may have still been spinning those tires as you crossed the line at 141! If ever there was such thing as Under Acheiving in Magnificent form I think you've nailed it. |
