How do you shrink a .gif file for use as an avatar?

I have several .gif files that I'm thinking of using as my New Custom Avatar but they are too big. How can I shrink them? They have some animation.

My tested and true Black Hole / Eclipse Avatar is going on a long deserved vacation.

You need to go into your graphic program and resize the GIF to "custom size" then put in 75x75 That should do it. If it won't open then convert to a .jpg

Hmmm. I'll give that a try. I thought that changing it to a .jpg would kill the animation. Thanks for the tips.

You are correct. If it's animated leave it .gif There is a limit on memory on the avatars so you may have to try different sizes to get it to upload. Like 70x75 or 60x60 The more memory the smaller you have to make it

Nasty, if you don't have a gif animation program and you want to keep the animation, you can email me a few and I'll see if I can shrink 'em down to fit!
<---(it worked on mine!)

Thanks for the help guys.

Ed I tried to alter it with my program that came with my camera but it only handles WMV files . But now I know that I have to look into getting another program.

BFH, I'll email them to you BUT I will need them back because I plan on trying stuff too......j/k. I'll get the email out to you soon. Thanks.
