Anyone missing a 1987 White Regal Limited Turbo?

I found a car for sale in Apoka Florida vin # 1G4GM1173HP435453. Title comes back as rebuilt with an ugly history. Looks like it originated in California, then went to Pennsylvania, then New York, now it's in Florida.

White '87 Limited with Moonroof. Cragar looking wheels. Body is rusting, interior is hammered. VIN number on the dash is _gone_, trunk sticker is peeled off. Someone apparantly put black carpet, GN seats, GN door panels, into this Limited (or maybe it's really a GN painted white). It also has black bumpers and not an ounce of chrome on it.

At any rate, this car is sitting down at a car lot in Apopka Florida on consignment. It's in real rough shape and from speaking with the owner I worry about it's origin.

I am wondering if over the years if someone had a White '87 Limited stolen and it never turned up. The owner is trying to sell the car with no VIN to be found anywhere on the vehicle. He does have the title, but who is to say it belongs to this car? Based on it's mechanical history, rust and questionable identity I wouldn't wish this car on my worst enemy. Yet the owner wants $5k for it!

It's not worth $100 without a VIN number. You are basically buying a piece of paper that has 'some' VIN on it, and even then it's a rebuilt title... frown
