TTA Newb I need help!!! Anyone in Greenville SC??

Hello everyone.........I usually stay on LS1Tech since I own a 2002 Firehawk, but I need your help.

My brother lives in Greenville SC and he owns a mint 89 TTA. This car has about 7,000 miles on it. It is basically a new car.

He has been having some problems with it and I am about to take a trip to Greenville to help him out with it. I live in Tupelo MS and I plan on going to Greenville in a month or two.

I am not a mechanic, but I am decent with working on cars. I have changed the heads, cam, transmission and I am about to install a twin turbo kit on my own car....................I know Ls1's but I have never touched a turbo buick, gn or tta.

This is his problem

When he gets on the throttle and he pulls a little boost the car starts to pop and sputter. Naturally I am thinking it is a fuel related problem since it is a 89 model and only has 7000 miles. A tank of gas probably sits in his car for 6 months or more before being used. He lets the car run for a little while weekly, but I am thinking he just has fuel problems from gas sitting in the tanks for extended periods of time.

This is what I have thought of as a start

Fuel filter.........duhhhh lol
Put a gauge on the fuel rails to see if he has good fuel pressure........what is normal fuel pressure for a TTA????

I have a lm1 wideband that I can use to see if he is running lean

Flush the gas tank

If you don't mind helping a newb out I would like some suggestions on what to do and look for.

I would also like to find somebody in Greenville that knows a lot about these cars and would spend some time helping me out on this. I will only have a few days to spend on this and It would be great to have someone that knows a lot about these cars.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

Brent Hallmark
