200-4R 9" non-lock up or switch pitch TH400

I am redoing the transmission and I am deciding between redoing the 200-4R with a 9" 3200 non-lockup converter (already have the converter) or going with a TH400 with a switch pitch Lock up converter. I can get the switch pitch to lock up at 1500 on the low end. I am wondering how much of a difference in highway RPMs there will be between the 2?

Anyone try the switch pitch?

The lock up will probably only account for about 200 RPM, but the loss of OD will account for more than that. Go out in your car for a drive and put it in Drive and leave it there, if you don't mind the engine spinning faster then you will probably be happy with the 400.

Good luck,

I just re did my trans, i kept the 2004r with a 9'' single disk lock-up 3000 stall converter. I am happy, like stated above the TH400 does not have an OD so thats something to look at. Good Luck

Switch pitch's are not lockup converters, they are low stall converters. They should slip about 200 rpm more than a lock up converteer at the same rated stall speed.
