Bad Choice on the Cooling Mist System

I got one of there trunk mount tanks with a pump in it and a speaker wire came loose and the tank had a leak and it sparked on trunk carpet causing a small fire which almost burnt my GN down to the ground. That kit is a joke if you ask me. I wish i wouldn't have wasted my money. I think that it was a bonehead decision on my part to even buy the kit. I mean the kit looked nice and the idea was good , but the fact of putting a chemical that burns in your trunk unvented isnt very good. I did like the kit, it was a good idea they came up with and a nice kit outside of the shitty tank in trunk which caused you to almost lose my pride and joy. I would have been irate if it weren't for the fire extinguisher i had in the car.I inherited this car from my grandfather who passed away and it means alot to me. Then for some company who jumps out with a gimic to boast so much about something then to see a customer almost lose a keep sake just makes me pissed. I guess you cant believe everything you read on here. Buyers beware.

on edit: spelling isnt my best

Where was your tank leaking ? I would like to check mine. A speaker wire sparked on someones carpet and allmost burned your GN down, You are right though, don't believe every thing you read.

Thumbs down SORRY BUT A NO BRAINER

Don't care who's tank or where it's got a leak. If you don't have it replaced at once because you are dealing with a fuel; you should have drained it till you could get it fixed, period. A leaking tank under the hood can catch fire too.

Sorry,

This is completely BS. You made this up. You never bought a kit from us. Our tank does not "spring a leak". We have never, ever had a trunk mount tank leak. It never happened. I count a whopping 4 posts and you registered today. Thats not suspicious at all

Its sad to have someone post something like this. We work hard engineering our products, I'll be glad to accept any real criticizm. Maybe you would like to take a picture of the kit for everyone to see. Im sure there are some remains of the kit.

I mean, surely if this happend, you can take a pic for everyone to see.
I just dont believe you. Sorry to be so blunt, but this post looks like BS to me. AND FYI, our kits are not GIMMICS. We work very hard to engineer our kits. This is not to imply that what you are saying is impossible to happen, it can happen with any kit. What Im saying is that I believe you are making up stories because you have nothing better to do with your time.

Until you post a picture of the tank with all the scortch marks on it, I call BS.

Yes, I agree the concern is REAL (as it IS even when mounted under-hood), but carefully walk me through the part where poor speaker wiring/ workmanship would not be held somewhat accountable rather than a mysterious sudden catastropic tank failure resulting from some latent and hidden defect in a "gimmicky system"...???

Pretty funny..the factory fuel tank is connected with rubber lines.....no one is too worried about that and it is certainly more susceptible to problems.

Putting the tank under the hood next to battery cables, ecm power feed, and its own power feed, not too mention extremely hot headers............now some might consider that even more dangerous.

Sparking speaker wires? Come clean, you were smoking a joint in the trunk and fell asleep!

Considering how fast Methanol evaporates that tank would have had to be more than just leaking in order to have enough alky in the carpet to catch fire.
Could you post some pics of the damageĀ*and the flawed kit?

Coolingmist,

You really should only offer two options to a troll like this,

1.Provide proof of damages or

2.Prepare to join Joe Cipolla in internet lore and fame as well as take him for everything he has.

I just purchased one of this kits from coolingmist. I have yet to install it so I have no feedback on the product. I must say that I am not defending them but I have been around cars all my life, a spark from a speaker if possible I don't picture being big enough to start a fire.

If you had a high powered amp and a speaker, 99.99999% of the time it would be inside a box, unless you do a crappy install.

If you install the speakers and the wire like crap, I am sure the install on a alchy injection system would be a nightmare to look at.

Just my opinion,

Scott

This thread sounds fishy to me.

I am going to move into the TimeOut room out of the limelight. This post has already broken a few of the limited rules around here, like post your name and email address if you are going to complain about a vendor. Another rule that was broken is try and work this stuff out with the vendor before you sideswipe them on the board. The rules have been around for awhile and are posted in a Sticky in the TimeOut room.

If this thread is legit and Badazzbewik isn't just some competitive troll then by all means he wouldn't have a problem sharing his name and maybe even some pictures of what happened. I have a feeling this one will just die out in the TimeOut room though.

First inconsistency,

Quote:

Ok, here is how funny this is. First its a SMALL fire. Then it all of a sudden almost burned it to the ground. Notice the use of "Your" rather than "MY".

2nd, would you really say this? I think you would be on the phone with the manufacturer trying to get your money back. The statement below would be from someone that has never seen the kit.

Quote:

That kit is a joke if you ask me.
it almost sounds like someone told him what to say and never changed the word "you" to first person.

Quote:
I wish i wouldn't have wasted my money. I think that it was a bonehead decision on my part to even buy the kit. I mean the kit looked nice and the idea was good , but the fact of putting a chemical that burns in your trunk unvented isnt very good.
Now he liked the kit, earlier he said its a joke.
Quote:

lastly,

Think about it. 4 posts, all the same day. No pictures to prove this. SPEAKER wires causing a fire. A tank that weights almost 6 lbs, which is more than 3/16 inch thick that "SPRUNG A LEAK".

I still challenge him to put pictures. Not just of a burned out buick, but of the kit. Show me an invoice #.

I know most of you see this for what it is.
