| http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/sho...hreadid=102591 It sure seems like it. I know it is a conflict of interest since the owner of that board is a trans/converter guy. This is also the reason Pat's didn't want to advertise their also. I know it is unbiased here so if I am out of line I will stop with the heads up over there.

| Why do you even bother posting over there??? I've pretty much given up. There is too much deleting and censoring by the moderators over there for my liking. I don't think you've gone too far but it's their board and you have to play by their rules. At least here no one is incessantly controlling what you post or read. I personally like hearing about bad vendors so I know where not to spend my money. I think this post is heading to the Waiting Room ![]()

| I guess it is just habbit and I know a lot of people over there. It seems my for sale ads do better over there so maybe they have the volume. You are right though, it is ran more like a total business than anything else. Since Mike is removed here it makes it better for censorship. I know Pat's was helping the Canada people out with shipping is the only reason I replied. The poster is from Toronto or I would have just held my tongue.

As Bruce himself has stated, products should sell on their own merit and vendors should live or die by their products and service. That tends to be a hard thing to have hold true in a "captive market". As you stated on the other board, you use some of his parts as well as Chris' parts and like them a lot. They've stood the test of your scrutiny,so it's not like you slammed his products, you just suggested what you felt was a reasonable, viable alternative. No harm,no foul IMO. ![]()

![]() Read up while you can because I can guarantee that thread will get vaporized soon. This is just another classic example of a major conflict of interests with a business owning a 'free thinking' message board. No matter how hard you try things like this will come up because your motivations are pulled in two different directions. Jesse, your parts for sale ads might have a better response over there b/c the traffic levels are currently higher than ours. We are steadily climbing that ladder and one day will surely pass the other site. I foresee that site turning into 'turbobuick shooting fish in a barrel, hey don't forget to buy your PTS parts.com'. Not to worry though as our unbiased and unaltered content will be right here as usual. We have added new sections and features like gasket, turbo, cam databases, free downloads of torque cards, ecm error cards, vendors index and we are also getting this newsletter fired up. Point is TurboBuicks.com will not be a stagnant message only board lining a select few pockets of those in charge. We are an online community (see website logo at top of page) that involves and includes every one of us. The message board will be a large part of this website, but our resources and unbiased content has already made us apples to oranges compared to the other site. In terms of growth TurboBuicks.com has gone from 2 million hits per month to 5 million hits per month. 1500 users per day to 3500 users per day! This is only in a few months time and ironically it coincides with the heavy hand change of the other board. Plenty of people understand what is happening over there and when folks decide to stop watching the train wreck your parts for sale ads should do just fine over here powersix [ October 23, 2003, 11:44 AM: Message edited by: Orlando_87GN ]

| The reason Pat's chose here (as you can see they did ask over there) to advertise here was because of the ownership and not wanting to clash at any point. The "only" reason I responded was because I saw he was from up North. It means a decent deal to the guys up there if the shipping burden is lessened which they have been doing at Pat's. I thought it was pretty harmless but what do I know.

| It was me who got this started, & I have already (before the post) decided to go with Pats because they are trying to help us! I didn't use Pat's name because of PTS but I had no idea (being new to the boards) that they are so heavy handed & only want their group mentioned! Still dont understand why their unit is $200 ++ more? I emailed them and got a sales pitch without any real hardcore evidence of their superior product! Maybe theirs is better in certain situations but I'm sure not in all. Since my livelihood is word of mouth business & not advertising, I value when someone tells me that here is a good product with a fair price, that suits my needs! Anyways, I dont think your out of line but I guess they do!! cheers

| Resident Idiot | And I wish the powers that be would quit insulting the TurboBuick community by claiming an even playing field between all transmission vendors... sure, they all get along and bruce is happy to have them on board....... because MOST OF THEM ARE DISTRIBUTORS OF PTS PARTS!!!! where is that sheep icon when I need it??? ![]()
