Engine assembly...

i did this once or twice a long time ago... i need some brushing up on the how-to's!

Im putting the hot air all back together... im pretty sure i got it all! I need to figure out a few things...

Torque specs on intake? so you use hi-tac or any adhesive on the intake pan gasket before installing the intake?

Exhaust header bolt tq? I have postons headers, i figure the tq on those with steel gaskets should be important...

crank balancer tq? How do i snug this thing on? impact? I dont want to hurt anything!!!

Cam sensor alignment... how does this get done? i am re-using the front cover that came with the motor, but was not installed... cover is on, never taken apart, so i never packed the pump...should I? then what do i do with the cam sensor... it is on the cover installed, but how do i know it is in the right position?

ugh... im too excited about getting this together, that i finally got the whole model together! I just want to make sure im doing this right... it has been too long since the last time i did this... Im brain farting all over!!!

you ask a lot of questions , if you spent half as much time searching as you did typing you'd know all the answers by now and with all the time you've spent on the boards im shocked that you dont know where to find the info
heres a site www.votexbuicks-etc.com has almost all the info you asked about but here goes ........

Torque specs on intake? 35 ft lbs following torque sequence so you use hi-tac or any adhesive on the intake pan gasket before installing the intake? yes hi tac , indian head gasket cinch or permatex #2 non hardening ..better ditch the steel pan and get a felpro ms96033 blue gasket and it can be installed dry but i like to install with just a smear of rtv on water ports

Exhaust header bolt tq? 35ftlbs I have postons headers, i figure the tq on those with steel gaskets should be important...

crank balancer tq? How do i snug this thing on? impact? no!! I dont want to hurt anything!!!i do with pan off put a 1/2 extension bar into the rear bob weight hole and allow it to brace against block pan rail , muscle up and get a good torque wrench .because you need minimum of 219 ftlbs little loctite wouldnt hurt ....or another way to hold crank is with flywheel on take a long bar shoved through flywheel hole... or ive heard large vise grips on flywheel with starter off , i like do them once engine is back in car with bar through flywheel because on the engine stand it takes a helper to hold the motor

Cam sensor alignment... how does this get done? vortexbuicks-etc.com i am re-using the front cover that came with the motor, but was not installed... cover is on, never taken apart, so i never packed the pump...should I?fill oil filter screw on , with cam sensor out pour rest of the 5qts into the cam hole and prime using a priming tool and a drill then what do i do with the cam sensor... it is on the cover installed, but how do i know it is in the right position?take the sensor off and follow directs on vortexbuicks-etc.com

ugh... im too excited about getting this together, that i finally got the whole model together! I just want to make sure im doing this right... it has been too long since the last time i did this... Im brain farting all over!!!

getr done

i got your pm but hotairs arent my cup o tea , everytime i look at one i cant help but think ford had a hand at the design . as its nearly impossible to work on the engine , just changing injectors or plugs is a nightmare , i/c injectors and sparkplugs can be changed faster than it took you to type the opening post

the ecm is practically a plug in just need to add a inlet air temp sensor ( called MAT by some ) and run a wire from it to c11 (signal from MAT )at ecm and splice the ground for the IAT to D12, for what it matters you could put the iat sensor inside the car by the ecm or just have the iat ses flag for code 24 turned off in the chip,

the ign module needs just a couple of wires swapped , unless you want to spend on the adapter from caspers
maf/translator is plug and play and if you want new i can hook you up with new version 6.25 under 200
