Made it to the track

Finally got out to the track for a little with the GN. Had to be careful, its still got a stock rear in it. Ran a 11.43 @126 with a 2.0 60' on 16psi.....told you I was being careful. It was spinning through 1st and 2nd, got a little sketchy on the 2nd pass. Also has way to much gear in it was trapping at 6300 with a 29.5" tire. Planning on getting a built rear for it so I can crank it up and launch on the brake.. Hopefully I can get into the solid 10s with it. My girlfriend got a couple pics but none are even worth putting on the computer. Just thought I would share. Anyone have a built rear they wanna sell

very nice for a shakedown run
good to see another fast 86 in the bunch ...are you still sporting the chrome top 86 grille ? , you know the 86s are the faster of the ic cars dispite smokecrack always knocking the 86s
126 can do 10s no problem at the tune you have now

6300 @126 on a 29.5 (grows up top too) ....is the rear gear larger than 3.73 (4.11 maybe?) or is converter that inefficient?

at 127-128 im at 5850 with 27.25" tire(worn mt drs) w/342s ..my vig converter is about 11% slip below 6k , the Art Carr 3500 i had in the 2004r was 17% slip , over 20% at lower rpms

what 29.5 tire did you run?

WOW 373 ONLY
that puts your AC 9" at 22% slip

a change to a PTC (typically5% or less slip) would drop you from the 6300 to 5600 still allowing the 3.73s to get out of the hole

Great mph for that boost. What cam are you running? I'm assuming its a big cam since it seemd to like the high rpm. Due to your loose converter you might be getting right up into the optimal rpm range, even at low boost.

The question is what will happen if you raise the boost up higher with the current gears? The rpms might get higher than you want. Changing the gears to 3.42 should get you into a better rpm range so you can run more boost and/or a smaller tire. The lower rpm will probably loosen the converter more though.

Switching to a 9.5" n/l PTC will lower the rpms. With a PTC you'll run slower at lower boost because the rpms will drop so low, but when you bring the boost up you can run 130+mph at only 6000rpms or so. If you need the rpms, then staying with 3.73s would be good on a PTC.

Heck, you are already in the 10s if you can 60ft. Put in some good axles and go.

Looking to do a 9" with 342s. I would love to have the PTC conv. but I have other things I would like to buy first. Its a 218/221 cam, lots of topend. It will launch better but I was being easy, 1psi launch on the footbrake.

Doug, my dad stole my car and drove it there, I was out with some friends. Did you take yours??

Yea, Mary, the kids, and I went down. But we got there late. I thought that is what might of happened. We kept an eye out for both of you, but didn't see either.
