| Stock Turbo Challenge!! I will pay $500 to fastest ET on a stock turbo with the restrictions and corrections below: - Stock 86-87 Turbo. Mild porting ok, but housing must be same. Size will be verified. - Must be a Turbo Regal similar to the 86-87 chassis. No TTAs or hybrids. Clones ok. - Stock 109 block. Rebuilds with boring ok. No strokers. - No nitrous. Primary fuel must be gasoline. Alky ok. The following ET penalties will apply for the following mods: - Non stock cam 0.2 penalty - Non stock heads 0.3 penalty - Non stock intercooler 0.1 penalty. Dutt neck or porting ok. - Non stock ECM 0.1 penalty. Modded ECM ok. - Weight with driver should be 3550 lbs. For every 50lbs less than this, a 0.05 penalty. - All other mods ok. There is no side by side racing involved. The best pass with ET penalty corrections wins. For example, a stock combo runs a 12.20 pass. Another car with ported heads and a cam runs 11.75. The penalty for heads and a cam is 0.5 so the ET is corrected to 12.25 for the heads/cam pass. All passes must be made at Englishtown for fairness and consistency. The cutoff date is the September MAGNA meet at Englishtown, Sept 6. Passes can be made at the August or September MAGNA meets at Englishtown, or any Test and Tune session at Englishtown (Wed and Fri nights, some Sat days). Either myself or designated people (probably Paul) must be present to verify the combo and any ET penalties. One of us is always there anyway, but check to make sure. This is meant for current MAGNA members or eligible members in this region. No out of area ringers. The standard ET right now that I based my penalties on is my recent pass in the GN: 11.97. However, I will not race the GN again and its pass does not count. The money will be given away, there is no ET cutoff! So everyone with the coulda, woulda, shoulda, lets see it. Put a stocker on your car with ported heads and a cam and see what it will run. I tried to make the penalties fair so that everyone with any combo will have a chance. If anyone sees something I left out or has complaints, let me know. Anybody else or sponsors willing to donate money to the challenge will be appreciated. I've already got one commitment. My goal is $1000.

As Shawn said.... 0.3 penalty for ported heads or aftermarket heads (anything non-stock). Not sure what the gain will be, but had to start somewhere. -No penalty for injectors, intake/plenum, throttle body, suspension mods, rear, headers, downpipe/exhaust. -Any kind of tranny combo. Transbrake ok. -Suspension must be similar to stock chassis though (meaning no 4-link or anything). Wolfe bar ok. -Any kind of fuel system or ignition system. Sounds good to me! ![]() Except one thing. I gotta drive two hours one way, to make a legal run?!? Ive done it before, but without a safety net (i.e: trailer); I might have to think about this! Maybe a stipulation could be added that passes could be made at Cecil County for us MD/DE guys, as long as the cars are inspected before hand and two MAGNA members, other than the driver; are present... ![]() Oh, and before you go saying "Cecil mod", E-Town is a NHRA facility; so its surface should be far and above that of Cecil. But I probably have no idea what Im talking about... ![]() Im gonna go back out in the rain now and play with my exploding SilverStars...

Cecil penalty is 0.4... ![]() Atco penalty is only 0.2... ![]() May be worth it to you to drive to Atco...lol While Englishtown may be a NHRA Facility...There is a reason they can hold NHRA events there...The track is actually flat(Not downhill) And it is actually 1320ft.Think it is just coincidence they cant get NHRA certified?Maybe they just dont want the money the NHRA events bring in...Or possibly because they cant qualify the track for the events...I think I would pick choice #2. ![]() For the record...I actually like Cecil...Just something about the place I like. Atco I like also,Because that track has a great starting line. If you ask Paul..He will tell you,Atco comes up 100ft short on Directscan every pass he makes there...Same car/Directscan shows correct 1320@Englishtown every pass...

| Man with the Cecil penalty I'm 1.05 added to my time. Other wise it would only be .75. ![]() Actually it sounds like a lot of fun!!! Way to go Murph.

Im not 100 % positive but i was told cecil could not be certified because they do not have enough track after the traps to run cars faster then pro stock. This came from an employee at cecil. No funny cars or top fuel. The 1320 ft track thing i cant comment on except i've seen several stage 2 buicks run almost the same times at cecil , atco , and englishtown , different tuning for the track , i dont know but real close et .

Just one thing to clarify. By stock housing I mean a stock 0.63 housing. No 0.83 housing. I would love to be able to run times at Atco and Cecil, but it makes it difficult for me to verify the times and combos. And besides the other questions, I'm not sure if there is any difference in elevation between the tracks. Plus there are two MAGNA events at Englishtown before the cutoff. I'm trying to see if I can get my hands on a stock turbo or two that I could make as a loaner to anyone who needs one. Being as cheap as they are, I would hate for the excuse to be that someone doesn't have one. If someone already has an aftermarket turbo installed, I just hope they used some anti-seize. |

| Scott, this is a great idea -- thanks for posting. I have a few questions/comments for everyone... 1) What determines "mild porting"? How exactly will you verify housing size? Are you talking about the compressor housing, the turbine housing, or both? 2) Race gas is ok if someone doesn't run alky, right? 3) Iin the NHRA stock class racing they require a record setter to remove a cylinder head for inspection (head, bore, stroke, cam, etc.) before the record will be issued. Are we doing the same? 4) As someone else already mentioned, I don't think the rule that runs need to be made at Etown is fair to all members – some of which live 3+ hours from that track. Any track should suffice as long as the racer can provide the time slip for the run and the signature of another club member witnesses that were there to see it made, no? I have seen people set records at ALL the tracks in our area, not just Cecil. As an example, my personal best was at US13 Dragway. 5) Regarding the stock heads, a 3-angle valve job will be ok, right? Who will be in charge of taking measurements & volume numbers by which we canm go by? Perhaps the NHRA already has this info somewhere that we can use? -Banning.
