Race gas + alky ok too. I just don't want a 100% alcohol car running or anything way out there. Pump gas, race gas, pump gas+alky, and race gas+alky are the four available options. Water or similar fluids could be used for injection as well.

Anything touched on the head would require a penalty. One of the benefits of using Englishtown would be that Pauls house is not far away and he has a lift....... The only reason we would have a breakdown or a full inspection would be if someone starts running numbers that are far faster than expected. Someone running much faster than 11.9s on a stock combo would be an example, unless there is a simple explanation. Hopefully we won't run into any issues and we will use a lot of trust.

The idea behind this challenge is for people to push their combos with stock turbos and try different things and see what works. I really don't know what a heads and cam car will run with a stock turbo. Hopefully there will be some innovative things that come out of this that aren't too far out there. One-off pieces made just for the challenge is not really the goal, but if its something that works than it might be good for everyone.

Thanks for everyone's input so far!
Thanks for the clarification Scott.

I still think we should open it up to all tracks to be fair for all our members. MAGNA's events have always been set up with the majority in mind and to allow everyone to participate. What if the 2010 Points Series was run at Capital Dragway in MD next year because it was close to the house of the guy who was organizing the series, or was closest to the guy who had put up the most sponsorship prizes/money?

Great, then maybe this will also serve as a way to get some new members in the club and get existing members interested in the track.

It's just my two-cents, but given it's pretty clear purpose of having fun, this sounds like something that could easily evolve into a series of events, particularly given the very generous offer of some pretty serious cash.

If you can't pretty easily lay out a clean and simple set of rules that are grounded in the honor system and don't require pulling heads, etc. then let me offer my sympathy in advance to whoever ends up running and administering the series.

I'd bet a case of beer that something like this might be more fun if there were $0 dollars on the table (or a nice trophy or shirt) and you could completely rely on the honor system.

Just my -- it is a really neat idea, but the devil is in the details.

ok if someone in the "club " needs a car and will most likely take the MPH award check this car on Ebay out!!

eBay Motors: Buick : Grand National (item 150342961302 end time May-12-09 10:26:49 PDT)

Tested it on the track (once) and did 12.4sec at 140mph with stock turbo and regular tires.

Read that last night and the time and mph made no sense he's 35 mph faster than me in the traps but only .40 quicker

Its already been fun while there's been $0 on the table, and we've been relying on the honor system already when comparing our stock turbo runs.

Now its time to run for some $$.

As far as the other tracks go besides Etown..... its hardly fair as it is that people will be making different runs on different days with varying degrees of weather that may affect the ETs, but at least people can have the sense to try and run on cooler days/nights. To throw in different tracks in a challenge where the winner may be decided by hundreths is not something I want to do right now. It may be good in the future if we decide to run a stock turbo series or something, but thats not what this challenge is about.

If you want to run for honor and glory, by all means run at any track you want as I would still recognize the timeslip and give my congrats. But if you want to win my money, it has to be at Etown.

Thanks Shawn, Roger, Jim.

So far that makes $700 plus a MAGNA T shirt and hat to the winner!

Keep 'em coming. My goal is still $1000.

While I have no Dog in this fight I have seen what can be done to improve a stock turbo.

loose shaft bushings and seals, countless hours of porting..

I'd bet you'll see a mid-low 11 pass....

Biggest problem with a stocker is the enormus amount of heat they generate when they get over 20 psi

Good luck I'll be watching

While people say the stock turbo makes too much heat over 20psi I can tell you from experience that it will continue to make power in the 28-29psi range.
