I wonder if Turbotweak can make chips for that? Is that the E4M carb on it? (electronic quadrajet)? If so they are like a pre-cursor to fuel injection, and they do use and need the o2 sensor!

That'd be to bad if he could, cuz I just ditched the computer, added a Holley Street Avenger carb, new distrubutor and had Mikey install a automatic lock-up kit for the trans. Running good now. Huber doesn't want get smoked.

Jay - you're prob MUCH better off without the comp if it can pass inspection that way. Those carbs were ok but econoboxes the whole way, and its a PITA to replace the tps (built into carb under the lever on the right side). Do you have gauges for everything, or did he wire up the idiot lights directly? Just curious since my cousin has a hack-job olds with no comp. Quadrajets are awesome because you get the gas mileage of a 2 barrel but then step up to an 750-850cfm 4 barrel when you step on it!

BTW - the way those electronic carbs work simliar to fuel inj in that they pulse a solenoid (blue plug on left of carb) to adjust the mixture control (similar to pulsing a fuel injector). You should hear the solenoid clicking when you turn the key on before starting. Obviously its not as direct but the principles are the same. They use a TPS (which is the 3 prong plug on the right side of carb), an O2 sensor, and instead of an IAC, they use an idle-adjust motor that advances the gas pedal a tiny bit. (mounted to the throttle lever). Even though the idle motor has an adjustable plunger, I was told not to touch it as the computer auto-compensates anyway. The automatic choke on those carbs is the only PITA thing to keep working. If it sticks, just mark the position and remove the choke spring (black plastic round thing on left side), remove the two torx screws inside the choke cup to remove the cup, then drown the cup and shafts in carb cleaner and grease them back up or use WD. The factory grease dries up and makes the choke shaft gummed up. Once I did that, my old car was perfect. One gas pedal pump - car started every time flawlessly. 5 min warmup, stomp gas to floor for a sec and it steps down to normal idle (or does it automatically as your driving).
