Baselined the GN last night....

Went to Cecil last night with the GN. I wasnt gonna run it untill I took care of some things, but curiousity got the best of me. Got there at around 5:30 or so and went to the lanes. Got teched while the car cooled down. Lowered the tires to about 20psi or so and went with it. Set FP at 42 line off. Also had a full tank on isopropyl and another gallon of methanol in the trunk.

First pass: 14.34@97MPH w/ 2.26 60'. Spun some at the line. No problems going down the track. Not bad for a first pass ever in a car I've only owned two months. No knock and a straight pass down the track.

Second pass: Hotlapped to a 13.92@95MPH w/ 2.10 60'. Also cut a .035 light. Not bad for someone who hasnt made a pass in over three years.

Third pass: Let the car cool for a while and BSed with a LS-1 SS owner in the meantime. Half hour later we went again. 13.74@99.55 w/ 2.10 60'.

Fourth pass: 13.411@almost 98 and change. 1.998 60' on the Eagle RS-As with about 20psi in them. I couldnt heat them up, I adjusted the rear brakes a little too tight. Car also has serious wheel hop on a hard launch. Best ET and 60' for the night.

Fifth pass: 13.43@almost 102MPH w/ a 2.11 60'. Not bad. Car was consistently running good and was not detonating. 02s were in the 780-810 range all night. Still on the rich side with the alcohol.

Sixth pass: 13.64@101MPH w/ 2.21 60'. Spun some but not too bad. Car ran good with no knock retard.

By then it was almost 10:30, soI packed it up after that. I drove the car in and drove it home, and its still in one piece with intact HGs.

Car pulls strong and chirps second every time with a SOLID upshift. I have no idea what the shift RPM is as I havent put my tach in yet. Car has HORRIBLE wheel hop. Everytime I tried to heat the tires, the whole back end of the car would shake violently. I almost turned the alky off, its running that rich. No knock whatsoever the entire night. Boost was around 21psi, gauge read 20.5 or so.

So now it all begins. I got to put my shiney new THDP on along with a host of other things, but I think its a good start.

Opinions please.

Sound like you had fun . I few co-workers went last night, said they seen a few GN's & TR's.

Sure hope I get to go before the year is done . Fix that wheel hop, hate to see you brake something.
