Sad day

Well folks today is the anniversary of the reason I don't ride motorcycles. My buddy from high school was killed 2 days before graduation when a truck pulled out in front of him and hit him, splitting his bike in two and dragging him for two miles before the driver realized what happened. I call his rents every year and his pops on fathers' day, but it doesn't get any easier. They divorced because they blamed each other for what happened. Live life while you still have it.

Unhappy

That's a tragedy. My thoughts are with you and your friend's family.

And here's a toast to your great sentiment on enjoying life-- after all, this very moment is all we're ever guaranteed.

I quit riding just about 6 years ago....Right after my 3rd good friend was killed while riding...2 weeks after my first daughter was born,I figured now that I have a life that depends on me,I cannot take stupid chances anymore. When my girls are all grown up....I will buy another bike.

Sorry to hear about your buddy...I know how you feel...3 good friends and a cousin lost to motorcycle accidents. My cousin was hit Broadside by a drunk driver,The guy was so drunk he didnt know that he hit anything....It was a Harley Fatboy...My cousin was 19 at the time, the guy dragged him for a few miles also,Before stopping...

That sucks Matt. I've lost a close friend way to young as well so I know all too well that feeling. I was talking to my mailman the other day and we got talking about bikes. I had one when I was 19 and sold it 8 months later after dealing with the rejects that drive on our highways. And that was back in 88 when there were less cars on the roads! My mailman said he's been riding for 40 years. 6 times to the hospital, 2 times medevac'd in the helicopter, broken legs, arms, and other bones he could not remember! He loves to ride and just pays the price for it he said. He was also telling me only a few times did the people that knocked him down actually stopped. Most of them just kept on going. A guy who works with my brother rides a beautiful Harley. He went to lunch 2 weeks ago and jumped on the highway for one exit to grab his lunch. A car clipped him knocking him off the highway and into a ditch and kept right on going. Broke both of his arms so he was not able to even call anyone on his cell phone. He laid there for an hour before they came looking for him and found him laying in the high grass all busted up. It's a shame but your really putting your life in your hands and turning up your ods of death big time by getting on a motorcycle anywhere in this area. The people just don't care and they think if they hit you it's like knocking a kid on a bicycle over. He'll just get up and be fine. I'd love to ride again but never will as I don't like cutting my ods of life down that much on a daily basis. As long as you remember your friend like you do and think about your friendship all the time he'll live forever inside!

one of my best friends died in our senior year, she was 17, she was in a car, our friend was driving them to the wendys in berlin on 73, they crossed at the median there and was broadsided. it was really crazy when they told me- its been like 4 years almost and it still hasnt really hit me. i keep meaning to stop and say hi to their family but i always come up with excuses for myself not to

Shawn!
Of course you'll buy another bike! You'll buy 10 and your hired help to drive them! Could you please make sure I'm listed in the will before you buy one though

Bikes are a no no here in NJ where the drivers suck the air out of a dead cat's a.s.s. Not worth the risk with these dumb bastards behind the wheel.....
