Bring your spare tire as if you would any other time. It can be safeguarded at the track as long it's not import day. Then it might get runned over. Don't leave it home with the jack so the car can be lighter. Paul can tell you a story where a member didn't have a spare to get home after the shock tore a hole in the tire. Thanks to Paul and Murf. who live nearby and helped with parts.

yep the spare doesnt hurt for traction if your tank is running low toward the end of the day , you can always take it all out when you get there

those cheap tire repair kits (the tar fabric strip type ) arent a bad idea to keep in the car and can save your day , doesnt take much to poke a hole in slicks and if you dont run tubes those patches can get you back running
a small air compressor isnt a bad idea , i carry one of those battery jump packs with a tire inflator on it

wire crimps , some wire , terminal kit and tape

after seeing some of last years failures my ideal kit would be

spare rocker arms (broke one )
lug nuts (both cone and shank) (needed them in a pinch to borrow a set of stickies that were on different rim than i run )
wheel studs (not uncommon to loose 5 on a launch )
drive shaft (getting to be common due to ujoint/yoke failures
rear akle yoke complete with straps (see above)
oil /trans fluid
serpentine belt for your car (tossed one off and it wasnt stock size so no spares in the pits )
alternator
coilpak/ignition tester and spare ign setup
spare maf
cam sensor
radiator hoses
vac line and zips

Yeah, if you don't live too close to the track a spare tire is nice. Of course, if you run 28" tires it might look a little goofy putty a 26" tire on one side in the rear. Probably not so good for your rear end either.

Even though I don't live far from my regular track, it helps to have friends who live even closer to the track.

The essentials for track day are: $, helmet, jeans or pants (no shorts), air pressure gauge, and a pen to fill out your tech card while waiting in line (might even get to jump a couple people if you waive your filled out card out the window )

Start with higher air pressure so all you need to do is let air out instead of waiting to fill up. If the track air compressor is down you'll be screwed. I sometimes bring a portable air tank, but you'll only get to pump up your tires once real good before its starts running low. Just use common sense before taking your tires down to 15psi and realizing you have no way to pump them up.

My goody pack in the trunk contains: tool kit, oil/funnel, rags, MAF, noid light, spark tester, fuses, spare ECM, spare chip, gloves, flashlight, IC hose, clamps, CamFix module, FieldFix Alternator bypass kit, crank sensor, ignition and coil pack, serpentine belt, thermostat and housing, jumper cables, and probably a couple of other things. I used to keep a spare O2 sensor but since I have turbotweak chips I just unplug it if it goes bad (I ran for 2 months with it unplugged before). Everything fits in a small box!

I think I should throw in a spare spark plug and spark plug wire and some electrical connectors and wire. I keep a spare tire and jack in my car with 26" tires. With my 28" tires I just make sure Pauly is nearby.

Also plan ahead for what octane you plan on running and what mix you want to run (Don't fill up with 93 if you need a 50/50 116 mix).

Bring plenty of ice so you can cool down your intake and make nice puddles for everyone to drive through too. And your favorite rap cd to turn up and bother everyone next to you why waiting in the lanes (thats for you, Paul!).

Just kidding on the above two things. Paul likes rap (and ice....in his coffee).

Paul, you forgot to add a spare cam and turbo to your kit.

yes scott , spare cam

actually matt ,forget about loading junk in the trunk ... just bring Jill , ill keep her warm

speaking of heading to the track prep
while its a bit cold right now another good idea is to get all the antifreeze out of the motor and run water and RMI-25 ,

Matt,
I'll be bringing a good bit of tools and spare parts myself. You are welcome to use them as long as I don't need to!

Cecil is pretty loose on tech, but they WILL check your helmet and harness dates.

If you put a bunch of stuff in your trunk, be carefull that it doesn't slide around and create a nasty out-ding in the rear quarter pannel.

A cardboard box is nice for keeping it all together...
A plastic milk crate is nicer...
A cardboard box inside the plastic milk crate is the BEST!!!!!!

You can run anything at Cecil as long as it/you passes tech.

I've seen:
- Postal jeeps.
- Snowmobiles.
- 60's era 4 door Caddys.
- Four wheelers.
- Dirt bikes.
- Diesel trucks.
- And a bad ass 10 second WH1.
