Looking for a Trailer?

I finally broke down and bought a trailer. I did a lot of research of the brands that were available locally to me. I found a company in Hagerstown MD call Trailer Enterprises, http://www.trailerenterprises.com/ . I bought a 20 foot full deck Bri-Mar from them for $2595.00. It has brakes on both axles, break away, removable fenders, ez lube axles, and it is powder coated instead of painted. All of the lights are flush mounted instead of stuck on the side. This way they are not broken as easy. The dove tail continues the whole way back to the axles. A lot of the “econo” trailers only go back to the front of the deck. All of the local dealers had the same trailer (different brands) starting at $3000 and up. A dealer in York was going to sell the same Bri-Mar for around $3500. I have been saving for a lot of years to buy a trailer. And I am very happy with this trailer and I wanted to pass it along.

Plus there are outlets in the same area for the wife/girlfriend to visit while you are picking up the trailer.

Good Luck Doug.

I picked up the same Bri-Mar trailer in May, only the 18 footer. Take a look across the back of the trailer, under the ramps, at the wiring harness. Especially the clips...

First time I dragged the beaver tail on concreate, pulling into a steep driveway, it took out the clips that hold the wiring harness. On the way back from the Salem event in Ohio, found out I had lost all my lights in the rear. Wire harness came loose and was dragged for a couple hundred miles across Pennsylvania..

I think there is an engineering flaw in how they had mine put together. I got them to replace the entire wiring harness free, then I welded a 2 inch pipe across the back, and ran the new wire through the center of the pipe. Won't happen again, but as I have worked in car assembly plants, I tried to convince them this was a bad design, and they did not want to hear it...

Like I said, look at yours closely and try to imagine what is going to happen the first time your trailers rear is dragged on concreate. It will happen.

PS - Otherwise I love the trailer

Thanks for the info Joe. I will check mine tonight. The dealer said they made some changes on the trailers. Hopefully that is one of them.

Good luck both of you with your trailers!! I will invest in one again someday!! My last one was a really nice homemade one that could tow just about ANYTHING!! A friend built it and he used it for about ten years!! I used it for another ten years and sold it to someone else who still has it!!

Yes Hooper I remember that trailer well! I even took a pic of it one day..

Good thread. I'm casually looking for one as well. I'll have to take a ride out there and check them out. I just had my truck all wired up for power and electric brakes. I was going to borrow one this week but it looks like mother nature changed those plans! Maybe in the spring I'll get one. In the city it's a pain in the a$$ to keep a trailer around and if I park it at Hoopers he'll have it worn out in a month! Again thanks for the post!

trailer

there's a small shop in Delaware that custom makes all kinds of trailer made to your specs (with tire stopper, built in winch, slide or fold down ramps, etc...) he qouted me $1,800 for a basic ready to go one that meets the DOT specs and I thought that's very reasonable, I will pay him a visit on Thursday and see what this is all about coz I need a new one, If I have one made I will sell my current one reasonably. His phone # (302) 368-9534 and his name is Rey

Big C let me know how you make out when you go to visit this guy. Take your digital camera or something. Maybe he'll do a deal on 2 of them!

Here's another link for a cheaper trailer if you are interested http://www.appalachiantrailers.com/1...R%20HAULER.htm . They are in Manheim Pa. This is where Rick from RK Performance bought his trailer from.
It's nice if you can get a trailer custom built to your specs. though. The trailer I used to borrow all of the time was a custom built 16 foot full deck. When it was built he had a tool box built into the front of the deck. It is real nice place to keep your straps, locks, tools, etc.

Now all I need is a Cummins to pull it.

And No Hoober I will not store it at your house.
