Ah, Old Gray. That sweet looking T. I spoke a brief word with you guys at last years GS Nationals. Glad to see that car is still in loving hands. You guys interested in our club action? Let me know! Would love to have the famous magazine car as a part of our legion.

Banning, actually I sold Old Gray II (not the magazine car) to Jimmy Ranigan in Conneticut. I now have a (relativialy) low mile silver T that I bought from the original owner last Feb.. And our entire division (Sunoco Pipeline) of Sunoco moved from 18th & Market in Center City to Sinking Spring PA. So I also had to move the family as well (company paid!). I'm now only 10 minutes from Maple Grove. I've been there last year about 4 or 5 times, and EVERY time I was the ONLY (I repeat ONLY) turbo buick there.

Anyhow, I'm going to make it to the Magna get together at the Grove (Or whereever) in April.

Take Care

Took my car over to Jim Dunn's Saturday to have him check everything over. Jim set the TPS, fuel pressure and boost. We drove the car and Jim noticed right away the car didn't launch the way it should, I always felt the car was sluggish of the line.
He felt that the trans was shifting kind of sloppy and that the torque convertor was either going bad or it was the wrong one for the car.
When I got home I checked the convertor and sure enough it is a D9 instead of a D5 convertor.
I checked my records and found the trans had been replaced a year before I purchased the car.
Jim Dunn is one of the most knowledgeable and sharpest around a GN I have met.
Now I have to figure out what to do next with the trans & convertor.
Thanks Jim for your help, I would not hesitate to recommend or have him work on my car.

Thumbs up

Spent an afternoon with Jim Dunn and Ed this past Saturday. Had it all veggied up to the TurboLink and diagnostic equpiment. Did some tuning and tweaking I never would have thought to do myself. The car runs even stronger and idles smooth as silk. The knowledge these guys have is pretty amazing. All I could to do was help when needed, watch, listen, and learn.

It was determined that my current Thrasher had some issues that are preventative of setting the IAC more accurately, but its still much better then it was. Also have a better idea of where that knocking sound is comming from in the motor, and what to expect if I end up pulling it apart in the near future.

On a GOOD note, Jim informed me that I have a brand new D5 converter in there, along with my rebuilt trans.

Hands down, I would highly recommend them for any help or serious work any of you may need to tackle, and are unsure of yourself. I'll be going back up there as soon as I get another chip in the car to help dial in that IAC correctly.

Any of you newer TR owners (like myself) that need help, I wouldnt hesitate a second to give Jim or Ed a call.
