Immobilizers

For those of you who did not get your free immobilizer, as of Sept 1/2006 if your vehicle is on the "most at risk" list you will need a MPI approved immobilizer to pass a manitoba safety. Also if ther vehicle gets stolen you will at that point be forced to install an immobilizer or theft insurance will be revoked.
And remember the 84 to 87 Buick Regal is on the most at risk list....

I got my truck and my GN done and not only did it not cost a dime but I got $85.00 back from MPI for having an immobilizer.

ps: if you decide to sell your turbo Regal and you don't have an immobilizer, you will have the get it installed before the safety is issued and the appointments are usually backed up for abour 3 months. So if you decide to sell your car now you might actually be able to put it on the market in Janurary.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't want a free theft system in you car, and don't give me the "I don't want to cut wires" line cause you all have aftermarket stereos with amps and such.

If you live in Winnipeg and your vehicle is on the "most at risk" list you are elligable for a free immobilizer.... at least they where up till Sept 1, I'm not sure if they still are.

What it does is disable 3 systems on the car, starter, fuel and computer (if fuel injected). It is a hard wired system and all the wires are the same colour. You just have to call MPI and make an appointment for an install.

You can visit the MPI website and check if your on the list.

Remember you must live in Winnipeg to be elegible for this program, outside the city may not apply.

Gotta love how MPI works... I was looking at the "most at risk" list today at work and I noticed that the 87 GNX is on the list. There's only 1 of those in Manitoba, and also the 87 Regal T-Type is not on the list
I don't know where they gat their stats from but that's just weird.
