Passenger Side Valve Cover Breather Suggestions

I am getting rid of the stock breather/oil tube assembly and am interested in some suggestions and pictures if possible.

I saw Kirban has a K&N style breather. Will this style saturate and leak oil out?

Thanks!

Brent

Are there any issues with oil leaking out of the open element breather?

Thanks!

Not usually on the passenger side. The passenger side valve cover has a baffle in it where you would put the mini K&N breather.

The best solution IME is to use the OEM breather, by itself. It fits perfectly (an inconspicuously) between the valve cover and turbo bracket, and has a "lip" which retains it in the valve cover grommet.

Aftermarket filters don't fit - the neck is too long and bottoms against the valve cover baffle and the filter rubs on the turbo bracket. Also, aftermarket filters have no "lip" and thus aren't positively retained in the grommet.

K&Ns and the like are do-all things, not application specific, hence their shortcomings.

Some guys will tell you to cut the neck of the aftermarket filter to shorten it. Meh...

Last I knew you could buy a brand new OEM filter from your friendly local GM dealer for about 10 bucks.

It won't leak from the crankcase filter itself, but removing the factory breather assembly from the inlet duct will result in higher crankcase pressure and WILL result in mutiple oil leaks from every where else on the engine. the rear main will be the first to start leaking, then maybe even make the intake end seals leak.

I just capped the nipple on the turbo and then just rotated the factory breather so the hole is at the top. I've got no leaks, there is some foam in there to keep anything from getting in the valve cover.
