26 Vs 28 inch tall MT

Have a decision to make. I have 16 inch GNX rims on my 87 GN. Due to a small selection of 16 inch MT DR's tires, I either put the 26 inch tall tires on my rims or buy a set of 15 in. rims and put the 28's. Car has 3.73 gears in rear. what would you do?

What's your RPM's going through the traps? And are you in OD or D?

I have those GNX wheels. i tried the 26" tires on there, they looked ridiculous, go with the 28s

28" tires first pick (but I'd not give up GNX wheels to do so), then repl 3.73 w/ std 3.42 when possible. Prev owner told me my car had Richmond 3.73--but when I went to replace it with new stock (Moser) 3.42, guess what--it already had a stock GM 3.42

I got dinged for 2-way shipping costs of the "new 3.42"..
