how

fast do you think one can go on a stock motor with no nearly no boltons except the must haves (walbro 340 w/ hw, tt chip or any others, etc.) with no alky in the 1/4? seeing as how nearly none of you are really stock anymore, just curious

good question
did my 'research'
well mr.wood said...Lawrence Conley told me once that his experience showed that about 530 hp was a practical limit before you got on really thin ice. In a light car, that would be about 11.0 or maybe a 10.9.

just random info..hope it helps

I musta left out that LC was speaking of no girdle, etc. but plenty of bolt ons

Stock motor with no bolt ons, no alky, but a tank of race gas can approach low 12s if everything is right including the owner.

Well, one of our members up here in the Great White North has run 9.68 in his slightly modified GN...the man can obviously drive. He purchased a low mile bone stock GN...took it out last weekend with stock radial tires running pump gas and ran 13.9.

do you know the mph on that 13.9 run? We ran a 13.9 awhile back on mine with horrible valve springs and the wiped cam and a one wheel, 16 psi and a little extra fuel. it was definitely floating though, 13.9 at 98 mph

I have 87 "T" that is pretty much stock........only bolt on's are a K&N 9", Hooker CB and an Accufab FPR. I was at the track yesterday and ran a 13.9 on about 16psi. Was getting 4* KR, I didn't have very good fuel in it and couldn't crank the boost up much. I'm running an "old school" type chip in there (TT on order)....and I think it's holding me back as I think it may have too much timing programed in it.
My 60' was a dismal 2.2 on a MT DR (track prep was nice )

I was there the previous week and run a 13.86 with a 1.98 60'. Best mph so far is 99. 140KM showing on the clock.

Ive been 11.98@111 on a stock turbo and unopened original motor (except for timing chain). Still original valvesprings. Basic upgrades plus alcohol (was installed on car when purchased).

Thats about it for now.

I've gone an easy 12.63@107.5 on only 21-22#s boost, Low timing, on an Original Everything, No Porting, EZ 0 Boost Launch..with Alch....Could go WAYY Faster with Higher Boost, tuning, etc, but I don't like Beating my TR.

Back in 2000, my old Limited went 12.26 @ 106.85 on a 1.62 60'.

Stock longblock, stock turbo, stock injectors, stock TB, stock downpipe run open, Stock NON big neck I/C, built trans, 2800 red stripe convert, 255 pump, hot wire, ModernMuscle press regulator & guage, Steve Munroe doghouse, K&N cone, 26x10 slicks, not even skinnies. Lubrant 28* race chip, 22 psi boost, 02mv were around 760.. [as useless as they are, I wish I woulda had a wideband back then.].

Added big neck I/C and ported stock elbow with Modern Muscle 3" downpipe. Went 12.18 @ 108.9 1.69 60.

Valve springs and skinnies and a wideband tune and it would have ran into the 11s im sure. This was a full weight Limited.
