when you say the motor needs to be rebuilt....why? that in itself can cost $$$ then all the work that needs to be done to it....I can see sinking 10k into it easy just to replace and fix all the damaged stuff....is that moisure I see in the windows...how was the interior...floor...trunk...rockers...etc.....

As a restoration like Sean said (more or less) its a Stinkin Money Pit!!

But for $500 you can scrounge the parts to pay for it & then some if your capable of stripping it? Need the time, space, tools & knowledge but should be worth your while.

After staring at those pics I can see the motor is stock with just the crappy red plug wires. And like I said "rough cobb". That car looks like a typical FL car. By that I mean the car is rusting from the roof down. No bumper fillers and I see the front of the hood is rusted away. You know just about every car I've seen down here in FL that has a cancered out hood like that car also has a ton of cancer in the roof rail area. I bet the trunk lid has holes along the lip too. If there are no holes in the roof than the floor pan is probably(and that's a big if) in one piece. You know if it was me and the floor didn't need any sheet metal and the roof had no holes than I'd do a restomod on it in a heartbeat. It's not everyday you find a TR that has 99% of it's stock parts. Most of the stuff that needs to be replaced can be had rather easily although it will be expensive to do it. Just do it all at once. I've seen many a project go by the wayside because of a lack of money and time. Yep who ever coined the term Money Pit was spot on as far as Turbo Regals go.

Depending on how much work you can do yourself you have a 8k-12k project there. When done it could sell for 15K+. You could also buy one today for 15K and be ready tomorrow for a cruise.

If you need help getting it running, my son and I fished our '86 GN from the side on the original owners house after it sat for 7 years. It was just as bad. We got it for $750. We wet sanded and buffed it several times. Touched up lot of areas with cheap single stage black paint. It's a good driver now. Runs good, and I have a LOT less than 12k in it. More like 3k. Still needs an interior to be nice, but we're proud it. I have a spreadsheet you can use that has probably the same parts listed that you're going to need. It helps you stay on track.
