Turn Signal Help

Hi all,
I've got a question. My turn signals seem to be having some problems. If I turn on the left signal it flashes normally. If I turn on the right signal only the back tail light will come on. I've replaced both the corner lamp and the front marker and neither has remedied the problem.

So then I went and bought a new flasher unit and installed it. That didn't solve the problem either.

I turned on the 4 way flashers to see what happens and the drivers side continues to flash normally and the right side does not.

If you turn on the head lights the marker lamp (which as I previously mentioned I replaced) will turn on. But still no flashing.

Inside the car if you turn on the lights you'll see left turn signal flash like normal, but when you turn to the right you don't see anything (IE nothing lights up).

HELP! I need to pass safety once I get the car registered to me and I've got no idea what to do!

The only other thing I can think of is the turn signal stalk, and I'm not terribly excited about replacing that!

Sounds like you have the wrong bulb installed on the side that is not flashing correctly.

Check and make sure you have installed the correct # bulbs, might wanna check your sockets for any rust while your there. If all is good there, I would check the whole car for any burned out bulbs. I had your same problem about a year ago and I went nuts trying to find the problem, my problem turned out to be a burned out bulb in the 3rd. brake light, changed thebulb and all was good again! HTH

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'm back in Va now and the car is sitting in PA at my parents house waiting. But my dad is going to help look into it while I'm gone for the week.

We'll check ALL the lights.
I did switch out all the lights on the right side of the car today (with correct numbers). I even took the bulbs from the drivers side and swapped them all over (just to check). The only thing I never looked at today was the third brake light. My dad's going to give that a try tomorrow for me.

Here's my current results (which were upgraded after installing new bulbs):

No Lights on:
Left Turn signal comes on when pushed down
Right Turn Signal Lights up back light only (front corner and marker lamp are off)
Four ways flash drivers side of car rear passenger tail light flashes (front lamps dark)

Head Lights on:
All lamps turn on correctly
Left Turn signal turns on when stalk is down
Right turn signal comes on solid in rear when stalk is up
Four ways all four lights stay on, same lights flash (as when head lights were off).

Any more suggestions in the mean time?

Do the brake lights work properly? Had a turn signal switch go south, killed the brakelights and intermittant signals as well.

yes the brake lights work normal (aside from the third brake light which nobody paid attention to see if it is even working at this point).

My dad will be checking the 3rd brake light tonight.

Yeah I'll look into that today..
And one other DOH moment..
I didn't realize the front marker had 2 bulbs in it.. So my dad found one that we didn't replace.. Fingers crossed..

Now we just gotta wait until about 4pm for my father and law to drop off the keys.. (Forgot to give them to my dad before going back to my apartment this week.. doh #2!)

I'd also like to give a second to say, thank you all for all the help so far. This forum is definitely a good one (so far) for me to be part of. Everyone seems very friendly, whereas some of the other forums I've been associated with just seem to have lots and lots of flamers.. hah.. Darn 3rd gen camaro owners! *shakes fist*

I'm so excited for my GN! I just got my plates for VA today, so here's hoping I can drive it back to my apartment this weekend if this turn signal thing worked out!

Is there two flashers on the car? One for 4 ways and one for turn signals? Or only one?

Because the book that comes with the GN shows the flasher I replaced as the hazard flasher. Is there a second one?

The other bulb didn't fix the problem. Still need to check the 3rd brake light, there was nobody to push the pedal to help my dad.

When I checked my 3rd brake light I just jammed a piece of wood against the seat to the brake pedal, it was the first thing I saw to grab.

There is a hazard flasher(up by fuse box) and your turn signal flasher.
