I had to trim an inch off of mine way back when. It didn't cause any problems It just had alot of stress on the cat pipe hanger.

When I removed the stock downpipe and Hooker testpipe, the cat hanger came off in three pieces. The leaking original rear main seal destroyed it. I just installed it without one. I did have to force the new testpipe in there, even after I had it expanded by a exhaust shop. Im pretty sure I tweaked the catback. Maybe I'll have to trim the THDP some, I spoke to a buddy and he said he had to on his GN. My driveshaft is rubbing the exhaust in two places, and Im getting a vibration resonating out of the exhaust. Doesnt do it with the dump open though.

Im taking it to my buddies shop today and putting it on a four post lift. That was I can see if its hitting when the car is on the ground.

Other than this issue, the THDP went right in with a corkscrew motion and doesnt even come close to hitting anything. I didnt even have to mess with the bottom of the firewall, as I was told I might have to.

Thanks for the insght.

Scott.

OK then, let me pose a question. If one wanted to upgrade and buy a DP, say 3 or 3.5 inches, which one would you get for lets say $450 or so? I only want to do this once, and I don't want to beat it or ship it back.

Even that they are made in china???

What do you think about DP's with external gates, such as the 1 from Archie at GN1 PERFORMANCE - 3inch Down Pipe

Don't know where they are made, but, I figure Dan Strezo will make it right if there is a problem.

Fortunately, I have THDP's on my cars.

I don't like external gates on street cars....good ones cost a bunch.

Wonder where Archie's come from?
