In the market for a GN

im in the market for a Grand National. was searching through craigslist and found this one. 1987 Buick Grand National 89,000 miles

i know a little about the these cars and engines but im not that in depth with them yet. ive always loved these cars and now i can finally get one. is this a good price? they seem to be going for more on ebay. what else should i look for in these cars as far as people putting aftermarket items on them. i have no idea whats good as far as the aftermarket items go.

There's alot of work there. For a couple of thousand more you might avoid alot of headaches and money spent to make so many repairs. You could offer less than the asking price and see what happens. Like I said that car needs work on the outside for sure. It will most likely need some under the hood work. Most of ours did.

Buy mine. 15k OBO. All it needs are doors, due to rust at the bottoms. 400-500 miles on new engine. Little tuning and it should be a handful for all but Richie or fArtie.

I found a very low mileage 87 GN (under 8k miles), as much as I hate to modify the car I would like more power (like most of you guys). My question is this, what does it take to get these cars deep into the 11's and keep them streetable? Also is it really expensive to get HP out of these cars?

I would think a set of larger injectors, fuel pump upgrade, hot wire for the fuel pump, and alky would get you in the deep 11's. Larger turbo with that list would for sure. What's your budget?

Wow I see it doesn't take much to go fast! Right out the gate I would more than likely drop 3-6k in the car. Judging from the looks of your list that's about all it would take!
