That's got to be the gayest shifter I have ever seen in any car.

The Olds needed that gimmick. The car was a slug. The GNs' mystique is under the hood where the action is.

The stock cable wont work. The replacement is GM part number 357746 and is still available.

I dont know? What is gayer? LRs or those new paddle shifters that dont work worth a damn?Or a stock shifter with a plastic handle that breaks every other year? I guess we all should be thankful there weren't any B&M Oldsmobiles.

I've got an old IndyMatic I just might have to hang on the GN just to piss Mike off. Well make him piss in his pants from laughing so hard anyway.

I had the complete conversion and sold it to buy a new turbo. You will need a bracket for the cable on the transmission and one to mount the shifters. Check the Hurst/Olds forums and there is a guy who specializes in this stuff. I believe his name is Matt something, but it's been awhile. Mark Huffman makes a nice overlay plate and since you have to hack up yours to make this work I just bought a old junk one from brian weaver and used the overlay. Do you have a set yet? They can be quite expensive nowadays for the 4speeds.

One engages the mower
Two lowers the deck

-I think that these "Lightning Rods" shifters look "gimmicky"...They might work good, but I don't know as I never tried one. If I were to have an aftermarket shifter, it would be something like a "Hurst Quarter Stick" or a "B&M Quicksilver" or a "Pro Stick" which gets the job done and look more "serious" too... Also, does someone know if the "Lightning Rods" shifter can be used with an electric trans brake ?
-Right now, I'm using the stock shifter with an aftermarket gate to prevent accidentally shifting into neutral or worse, into reverse. I added an aluminium handle from Mark at TR Custom Parts 84-87 Turbo Regals, 94-6 Impala SS, 93-up F Body Cars, Olds G-Body Cars, Late Model Corvettes, S-10 Blazers. The only other thing I plan to do one day will be to get one of those bullet-proof "j-rods" sold by Todd Kay ("TKGN1" on the "other" board...) With these two improvements, it will still look original, but will be as good as any aftermarket shifter...

Claude
