turbo suggestions for 3.8 ltr v6 ?

hi , i have a v6 , 3.8 ltr , in a holden commodore ( pretty well same as the buick
v6)
specs are as follows :

max ported heads , stock valves , no flow figures
roller rockers
220@ 50 cam
full ballance
2500 high stall ( 4l60)
aftermarket ecu ( microtech)
85 lb injectors
3 inch exhaust
2 mm thick copper head gaskets
buick turbo pistons and conrods

any suggestions on a good turbo , for good hp, and not much lag ?

1) What are you goals?
2) Do you want to change converters?

With the converter you have:
ta49
te44
gt3255e

The hot turbo now seems to be the 6776bb but it requires around 3400 stall.

the GT6776bb will work fine with a 3000

from mike lichts siteThe best "No Compromise" Turbo Buick upgrade unit available. The powerfull and mid-10 proven GT6776 turbo combined with a ball bearing center section will give mild street manners and only require a 3000-3200 stall converter. Spools like no big turbo you have ever tried and is very street friendly to boot. If you want a proven low 10 second turbo and street friendly manners look no further. Comes with "E" compressor cover (3" inlet 2" outlet). "S" compressor cover with 4" inlet and 2.5" outlet available at no extra charge, please specify. Actuator optional please specify standard or high boost

All Garrett based BB turbos are water cooled and WILL require a water line kit to be installed and we have these kits available. The stock oil feed line is NOT compatable with the BB turbos and a -4 line is required but the "Turbo Saver" oiling system is highly recommended

Holdens use the series 1 & 2 s'charged 3.8 motors I believe. Different animal then our GN motors. You need to give more info on what you have.

What year motor? Post the block casting no#. Take off a valve cover and post the head casting no#. The cam info you gave is no help. Try and find a brand and pn# or brand and spec like Erson 208/208 or Comp 204/210

That's going to be a waste of info since we already know it's a Series 1 or 2. Just treat it as if it was another 3.8. Okay with that being said whose kit are you using to install the turbo? Or is this a home brewed set up? Sounds like some overkill parts already on your list.

hi, right, i`ve done everything myself, made own turbo manifolds etc...

also , my fault maybe i should have said that i already have it running with a super t70 turbo , but the lag is just too much , doesnt hit boost till at least 3500 rpm , it does 13.3 for the 1/4 mile @170 kph.
i reckon at LEAST 2 sec are wasted cause it goes too slow because of the lag.

How do we know that if he never gave a year? 80's Holdens weren't S'charged. These guessing game threads get the best of me. Now he says he has a T70 turbo. I give up on this one

hi, does it REALLY matter what year it is ?
i didnt think it be so hard ???

its a 1989 standard v6 , 3.8 litre engine .
fitted with std buick turbo pistons and conrods.
2mm head gaskets
std heads which have been ported .

why would it matter what year the block is ?
how on earth can that affect horsepower ??????

He said 3.8 V-6. A turbo recomendation for a 231 cube motor. It dont make a difference if it was a V-12 or one cylinder. He was asking turbo. Not heads, cam or anything else. My comment was aimed towards those 85 pound injectors.

Yeah it would have been nice if there were a little more to the story to begin with. I would say call up one of the turbo vendors to see what they'd guess.
