GN-GNX upgrade Questions...new member

Hi everyone, I am currently looking at purchasing a 1987 Grand National hard top. I would like to however upgrade the motor to GNX specs if it is possible at a reasonable cost.

I was wondering where can I find those GNX upgrades (both motor and body)? How much do you estimate it would cost? and of course, do you guys think its worth it? Or should I just buy some performance chips?

Thanks in advance

I don't think you will find many GNX motors laying around....and If ya do, prepare to pay BIG BUCKS.

You could make a GnX clone, by getting the fender flares, rims, louvers, and GNX emblems...Also heat shield. Other then that, it's just a regal...........

Your gn can be easily made to destroy a stock gnx. Is it just speed you are looking for ? then thats easy. With a set of rims and tires the gn can start to look similar as a gnx minus the flares and emblems of course.

The motors arent really that much different. Ceramic turbo impellor, intercooler, and ladder bar suspension are the big ones. The differential maybe, i dont remember.

It all depends I guess what you really want. If you've never owned one, they can be quick no doubt about it. Just need to learn a little bit.

The GNX is a wicked car but I'm more impressed by mods like extended wheel studs and strange axles, drag radials...stuff that you might need anyways. I'd save my $ for go-fast goodies (fuel pump, injectors, turbo, intercooler) and be happy you don't have a T-roof car.
Got any pics?

I would save the money for a few upgrades first. As stated, fuel pump, hot wire kit for pump, injectors, ect. I would make it safer to drive before I made a clone. These cars are 20 years old now.
