Oil and Turbo question... Some what related

Here we go again... First off turbo question..
1) I have a stock used turbo that had (claimed) only 8000 miles. There was no shaft play what-so ever and the blades were clean to boot. I keep smoking blue smoke so I decide to check the throttle body. Low and behold there is a a little oil (you could wipe it off w 1 finger, I decided to use my middle) arond the bottom intercooler hose. Now does that mean the turbo gasket is shot and thats causing my oil being burned? The car smokes in traffic and at idle. I have yet to really lay into it (ok i did once but oly 7lbs boost)..
Thanks

My turbo @ 127 k miles starting seeping oil on the comp side into the intake tract. Not enough to smoke at idle/driving though.
The intake tract leak is common with that style garrett tturbo with high miles.
The 8000 mile deal sounds like bullshite.

Are u still runningf the oem setup pulling oil vapors over from the pass side valve cover to the turbo inlet??

If so then cap off the nipple at the turbo inlet and clean all the oil residue out of the compressor in and out with brake cleaner.
drive the car and if it gets oil back in the compressor outlet that tells u its the turbo.

Have you checked the turbine sude of the turbo for oil yet?
If u see oil residue on the dump side and not the entrance then the seal on the hot side of the turbo is done also.

In a nutshell either side showing leaks then the Turbo needs rebuilt ..preferred upgraded to the GT series stuff or a whole bigger series.

Good luck
