Post real knock and noise knock

how can I tell if i'm getting fake knock or real knock? Would the knock degrees slowly go up for real knock like say 1.5,2, 3.5?

Lower the boost and or raise the octane until the knock drops. If no change then it may be false. Maybe exhaust hitting or broken motor mount are common causes.
