Can you get a bigger housing for stock turbo?

Basically wanting to know how far a stock turbo can be modded. I read in postons turbo listing about a .82 turbine housing for some of the bigger turbos and didn't know exactly what it meant. Is that the aluminum part that the intercooler hose goes to? I have a turbo repair place about 60 miles from me but have not stopped. Would it be worth making a trip for turbo parts(bigger housing) or possible bigger turbo?

I ran the Garret .82 housing to 28psi on the stock turbo for an 11.92. The housing I am referring to is the exhaust housing. In my opinion it's not worth it, unless you are forced to use the stock turbo for some reason.

Here's a question....What it be worth putting on an .82 housing on TA49 that is believed to have a .63 housing currently????

turbine is the exhaust side and the advantage of the .82 is it allows the engine to breath better for top end gains since it is allowing more air to pass the turbine wheel but will require more converter than the .63 , on the stock turbo you can probably get away with it and still have nice spoolup but on the 49 it will need some converter .
generally for street cars the .63 is perfered for quicker spoolup , at the track you have the opportunity to prespool a little at the line and may be able to take advantage of the larger housing, ive run the TA49 and the TE44 with the .82 and a 2800 10.5 converter and spoolup was nearly instant

as for mod the entire unit can be bored out and brought up to a TA62 but at a hefty expense and then will require a higher converter stall to make it spool quick ,

think i covered both of you guys

Yup, Mikey is putting it in sometime next week.

What should I expect to pay for a .82 housing?
Anyone have an .82 housing they want to get rid off???

I'll probably post a WTB ad in the for sale section.

Huber is gonna go FAST in '07 with his .82 equipped TA49!!!!

Jason: If you can find one, get one. There are probably lots of people out there with these sitting on dusty shelves in their garages, thinking they are crap because they aren't the latest greatest PTE .63 or .85. If you can get one, let me know and I'll glass bead blast it. Huber has my high temp exhaust paint (looks REAL nice painted).
