champion heads

Thinking about buying a set of Champion heads. I understand that the aluminum heads are a little hard on head gaskets. Are the cast iron heads a better choice? Now, what kind of performance difference is there between the cast iron and the aluminum? What increase in performance are these heads going to give? Horsepower?

The most important question is how fast do you want to go. I have no experience with the aluminum heads but have the Champion Irons on both cars. Increased horsepower is a bunch, like 50-100hp completely depending on the rest of the car. They seem expensive, but when you add up machine work, valves, springs, retainers ect for a new set of stock heads, the Champion Irons really aren't that much. The bigger valves and the ported intake from Champion are a great combo.

If your running a street car, stay iron. We just added Aluminum heads to a car that had our ESP CNC Race heads and the car lost hp and big torque on the dyno. I have seen 150hp with our iron heads, cam, and intake combination. The result with the aluminum heads was not what the owner was expecting.

Hope this helps you.

Might have to swap back to Irons? Maybe there were other issues with the combo and not the AL heads that slowed the car down.
