Directscan (computer question)

Let me first state I know very little about computers
I bought a used back up laptop for my D\S which has a CD drive or whatever you call it, but no floppy drive.
The question is can I download my D\S floppy disk to my home computer then burn it to a CD (have Nero burning progarm) then down load the CD to used back up laptop thru the C\D drive ?
Or do I just find a external floppy drive for it ?

Probably easiest to just copy the disk to a USB thumb drive, then transfer it that way (if your computer has a USB port).

You can transfer to a CD(if you dont have a flash drive handy)..Its very small, shouldnt take more than a minute or so..

If your laptop has internet, just go to http://www.chuengineering.com/ and DL the program onto the drive.

and, if you wish it to work on an XP or 2000 loaded laptop...download the boot disk here....use it on a usb drive, floppy, or CD

http://www.r00td0wn.net/ds.html

Then, set the bios to boot on the floopy, usb, etc...and it will load it and run it.....and make it able to connect to the ecm as it requires a dos environment

OK, I tried downloading ver 1.52 to my NEW laptop and from reading this thread, it appears I have several problems.

I keep getting a read error when trying to unzip the files.

I have an new HP top line laptop with Windows XP and a DVD/CD drive.

What is Steve talking about? I understand this is still a DOS based program so what do I need to do (in plain english) to get it to run on this laptop (after I manage to get the files unzipped).

The website doesn't offer any instructions on how to use this program on the newer laptops.

Thanks - Terry
