Single shot or Dual Exhaust

Is there any big gains from one or the other? I understand combo has a lot to do with it, but for street set-up will one be better than the other for spooling a 45a?

the simplest answer is no.

The single shot will be louder and generally more obnoxious to most in a daily driver.

The 45a will spool with a 2.5" Exhaust. The torque converter is much more significant in the spool process. You need larger injectors if you want to use all the capabilities of a 45a....along with good ic, heads, and dp.

Thumbs down Single Shot

I tried an ATR single shot a long time ago. I am not a slave to fashion, however because the system made my little six sound like a radical big block I installed a second muffler where the cat. would go and it was still to loud for me who drove a 10.4 second "mild" big block on the street at that time; so I traded for an ATR 2.5" dual and have been happy ever since.

I chose the single shot because it weighed less. That'll be a bigger factor than flow numbers.

That's why I went for it. The dual system I traded for has ss walkers which I think are not as loud as the atr's.

I have the single shot and love it. It is lighter, but pretty loud. Non Buick people don't think it's a V6

How much converter, injector do you think it would need for the 45?
more or likely was going to get injectors cleaned and sell when i do head-cam swap
Thanks

To try to use it to its capability, I would say 60# injectors and a 3600 rpm stall converter....heads, cam, intercooler

Also, a three inch exhaust....I would prefer duals for a street driven car as the larger diameter is non conducive to reasonable quietness in a single set up from what I have heard
