Post Richard Clark - GNX suspension & lowering

I had this posted on the other board and was told I might be able to get ahold of you here.

Anyway, I was just doing a little brainstorming and wondered what the effect would be on lowering a car with a GNX rear suspension 2+ inches. Would it cause it to bind at all since the panhard bar is at an angle? How would the instant center need to be corrected? Also, what would the widest tires be that could fit under there, assuming mini tubbing and frame notching would be needed since the car will be lowered. (No rolled/trimmed fender lips). I wasn't sure if any part of the GNX suspension was closer to the outside of the car than the original suspension or not. I figured a 295/50R15 should fit, but does anyone think a 305, 315, or 325/50R15 would fit? I realize the frame would probably have to be resupported in some way to take the extra stress from being notched. Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert, but lowering the GNX sspension I would expect would reduce its purpose. Under boost the suspension raises up in the rear, so lowering it may inhibit it in some way. Again, I'm no expert, but just food for thought. Good luck! dunno

Booboo, I thought about that and came to two conclusions. 1. Since the car was lowered, the GNX susp. might raise the car even more depending on spring rates; or 2. Some of the mounting points for the GNX susp. would have to be slightly altered or what-not.

Salvage, thanks. I'll see if I can track him down elsewhere.

That GNX rear end is some high priced geometry.
