Going on a diet

Besides the usual things(single exhaust and aluminum bumper supports) what else can I do to lighten up my 87 a little?Right now it weighs 3915 with me in it.Keep in mind this is a street driven car so things like pulling the door bars wont work.

Some things I have done to my car:

GTA/GNX Wheels
Aluminum Core Support 12lb difference
Mini-Starter is easy 10lbs difference
Front and Rear aluminum bumper inserts 54lb difference

Things I still want to do:

F-Body radiator ~ 15lbs
Pat's Converter vs. stock converter
All RJC Aluminum Pullys
Hollow F-body front sway bar

I wish I had weighed my car recently but don't have any official numbers for you. I can tell you that my car sits too high in the front now but I think some '86 springs will fix my problem.

36mm hollow bars

3rd generation F bodies with 1LE option (16" wheels) have the 36mm hollow bars. Direct replacement for stock GN bars, save 9 or 10 pounds and handle better. I have a few of these to sell, but I need to look into shipping before I post them.

sound deading material is easy free weight to get rid of. take out the carpet and take out the back seats and pull up all of that sound/heat absorbing material out of there. if youre feeling ambitious, there is some behind the dash also, and check behind the interior panels aswell.

aluminum core supports

Seems like I saw one for sale on one of the boards just recently for $300 and I think the guy said he would not ship. They are never cheap and they are hard to find ones that aren't corroded where the radiator sits, at least that's what I hear.

36mm hollow bars

MonteC and teamgn87,

I will PM you guys as soon as I figure out shipping on the bars. I just don't want to take peoples $ until I am ready to ship! I have 3 of them and should have 4 on Monday. Thanks for your interest.

Cool

PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN PURCHASING AFTER MARKET EQUIPMENT. SOME PARTS MAY BE HEAVIER THEN OEM EQUIPMENT.

For example, I bought some aftermarket OEM rotors that were 1lb heavier then my stock rotors. IF you are concerned about weight, ask the weight before you buy.

im thinking about making the aluminum core supports. they wouldnt be all that hard to make, and i could do it for alot cheaper than the 3-400$ they go for
