Compressor and freon should be around 30lbs. If you removed everything including ac/heater box it would be near 50lbs weight savings.

The complete heater box assembly has to be at least 30 lbs. Regardless of weight, removing the A/C will free up some room on the engine and in the engine compartment making it easier to work on the car. -Banning.

50# and give up ac on a car that is not a strip only car? Why butcher it? It will definitely hurt the resale value as well.

if you decide to delete you can get the defroster /heater from summit that will work the factory heaater only box doesnt give much more access than the A/C box , my 86 has the delete plate and i thought about switching , i have all the stuff from a heat only car and I mocked it up and I would still have to pull the motor to do gaskets with the studded heads and still fight with the #6 plug. before i would go that route i would put an a/c box back in with foam sealer against the firewall instead of the butyl caulk and leave out the hard to get bolts (plug the holes) this way i could easily pull it off to access the head and have good heat and defrost ,

that delete cover looks nice but also looks like you would need to pull the motor for gaskets with studded heads
