I'm glad I'm not the only one to try this stock turbo madness. I do however have ported irons, 206 cam, port matched intake, red strips, 7th, and a few other little tricks. Can't wait to see how it runs on the good gas. ------------------ 86GN-X clone,206/206 cam, ported heads, port matched intake, poston's ceramic headers, ceramic crossover,Kirban 3" DP,KB 3" single exhaust,3" test pipe, Stainless ultraflow,Red Stripes,ATR 7th,BGC pump,Hotwire,Voltbooster,TB heat bypass,Joe Lubrant chips, scanmaster,KB ram air,K&N,as many wheel and tire combos as women have shoes, and a little bit of boost. Hi All, I was once a disbeleiver, but have since come to see the light! (BTW, welcome back Tim, and thanks for the good deal on the 3" DP!) Back in '95 I was running consistent 117+ mph with a best of 117.89 (11.70's w/1.75 60s) and was being called a liar by a reputable midwest TR vendor at that speed! I had a stock 94K mile motor, 12" 2800, TE62, stretch IC, alcohol inj., etc. Far more "mods" than Tim's beautiful T. The kind of time/mph I was running has since almost become the norm for stock motored cars with big turbos and intercoolers! I ran between 23 and 24 psi on pump gas with the alky... figured if I had bigger than 36# injectors, race gas, and a love for changing head gaskets, those 123+ mph passes weren't THAT far away with 30+ psi boost. My suspension may not have been able to get the 10's, but the HP potential was there, theoretically. (Yes, I know that reality is a very different thing!) Just my $.02... thanks for listening... ------------------ Jay Jackson ygettv8@aol.com

Man--great topic. Nice to finally here from the man himself. Way to go Tim. I think most of the flak comes from people expecting to repeat your accomplishments. I know its gotta frustrate vendors when they sell a guy some parts and he complains because he doesn't get the Stockwell results when he gets to the track. Kinda like a guy who buys the same clubs as Tiger and expects to compete in the masters. I have always believed the recipe on the TR website, although I also believed there were some details left out. You don't expect a magician to reveal all his tricks do you?? The point of the article though was stock motor, heads, converter etc. Hopefully after several years and several 100 passes I can learn a few tricks. Newbies like me just gotta remember -- this isn't a guy who just bought a TR and started throwin parts at it. He's a experienced racer who had alot of expert resource behind him. Anyway glad to see Tim posting on the board. Cool. |
