AC Delete

After owning the car for 9 years, I have come to the conclusion that I will never fix the non working AC (Might just need a recharge, I don't care, wouldn't use it much even if it did work..). So I got an AC delete pulley, and am going to start the removal process soon.

So here is the really open ended question.. Anyone have any advise, or "been there's" to share regarding the removal of the AC? Does the condensor come out without much fight, or does the radiator have to be removed.. What about the plumbing on the HVAC unit, what do you leave there, etc... What related wiring can be removed.. Pictures are always nice

Thanks...

i just did this on my car this weekend. pull the radiator wich takes 10 minutes, then 2 bolts hold the condensor in, remove them remove the lines to the comprossor and the lines to the accumulator. then the condensor will come right out- take the compressor out wich is nice and easy, accumulator, then i went into the box and pulled the evaporator out and sealed off the hole where the lines went to it untill i get my non AC box. what AC delete pully did you get- the GM one for a 4.3 in an S10?

I got the AC Delete pulley from Cottons, not sure if it's an S-10 one, but I would believe that's possible (I used to own a 4.3, non AC truck, too.)...

I just pulled the condensor and compressor out tonight, and um , now the belt is too long... Do you have to go to a shorter belt, or more importantly, which shorter belt? Just get a belt for a TR that did not have AC? The belt is too long because the new idler is just over 4", while the clutch pulley from the conpressor was just over 5"..

So the evaporator can be removed from the HVAC box? I'll start unscrewing things on that soon, as well...

if you got the GM idler pulley for a 4.3 S10 then the belt should be the same. did you have to drill holes to make it work- because on the S10 pulley you have to drill one of the holes in the housing bigger to make the bolt fit.

The one hole was too small, but only by a tiny bit.. I actually was able to thread the bolt through with an air tool (The aluminum is soft enough to permit this..) But the belt is definately too large now, Cotton's site even says a shorter belt might be required.. The idler is, as I stated above, smaller than the AC pulley... It must not be the S-10 one?

Here's a pic...

Went to School in Buffalo for four years... And have lived on the same latitude my whole life..

Those pics are with the stock belt, and as can be seen, it's loose!! (New belt is only ~1/2" shorter, though..)
