| Stick with the iron. I've heard of the steel liner in the drum separating from the aluminum after time. They're a curiousity at best[something for collectors].

| There are some issues with the alum drums. They are lighter than the iron drums. But there life is not as long as the iron drum. There is no difference in braking IMOP. I had 2 sets over the years and crack both before replaceing them with disc.

| I put aluminum drums on my car when I re-did the brakes, and have not noticed any difference in stopping. They are noticeably lighter. I got mine off E-bay, and had them turned for a good braking surface. All of the replacements for them through Autozone, Napa, etc.. are iron, and they have to be replaced in pairs. The aluminum drums also brought my wheels a hair further out from the frame rails, which was an issue for me as I run fairly big tires out the back and had rubbing issues. I have heard of people cracking them with high boost power brake launches, using the e-brake and footbrake to hold more boost at the line, etc.. I like mine, and haven't had any problems so far. | Lighter, less unsprung mass which is better-at least in theory, less rotating mass which is also better. They work well for a daily driver. Not as strong when it comes to abuse as noted above. ![]() No practical difference in braking. They are about a 1/10-1/8" thicker which is handly when a little more offset is needed as stated above. ![]()
