Exclamation 7 to 5 disc Vigilante

Back in October of last year I posted on the other board that I was having problems with my GN stalling, especially when coming up to stoplights or off ramps. It started only after my engine rebuild and installing the 7 disc Vigilante. Nothing else was changed. We tried everything - IAC, TPS, O2, I even had JL send me another chip, thinking it may have been a problem with the anti-stall patch in the chip or the programmed idle with the 50# inj. Well after this junk budget roller fiasco, I pulled the motor and installed a billet piece and took the opportunity to send the converter back to Precision to trade for the 5 disc (I paid the difference). The car now runs great and it has not stalled once. There was talk about the clutches binding in the 7 discs because they were so close. Perhaps this was the basis for the design change from 7 to 5? Anyone know the REAL reason for the design change? Anyhow, thought I'd let others know the results of my trials.

Ron

Before my rebuild my car would stall out when i would slow down to turn or at a stop light etc. During the rebuild i found that i did not have a D5 convertor. It was some off the wall nonlockup jobbie from a crappie NA car. Go figure...
