Hi is this a good deal

hi i have found a 85 GN but i dont know if it is worth it

Pros the motor has been built by a racing motor place here in Town, It has forged pistons, CAm cams cam and valve train And was ported and polished. IT has 4 k miles on the new motor

The interor is in ok condish but it needs a head liner and driver seat. And sound system
and it has a sunroof

CONS it needs new paint job and a little surface rust and it dosent run. The guy was driving it home and it stoped running but started right back up but barley ran ( pops backfires, but it idles) He thinks it is the timing chain but it has a double roller timing chain SO i think it needs a new fule pump, It has a new computer and alot of new stuff on the motor. So what do yo guys think it is.

I think i can get it for 2 k cash is it a good deal

And were can i find after market parts like suspention turbo's Down pipes, interor.

Thanks

Joe Sokol III

Welcome. Where is home and what is your budget. Any car can be fixed up to look and run great. Some cost more then other to do. An 85 is one that may cost more to restore.

Hi! To restore the 85 might cost almost as much as finding a half decent 86-87 which are the preferred years. You will find that when adding up all the work that will be needed along with the unforseen surprises you might want to really think it over before jumping on it. Only you can see the car, what was your First Impression? Go with your gut feeling. Good Luck!!

I don't know how the market is in your area, but where i am anything decent goes for at least $8000.00. I just picked one up for $1400 canadian, but it needs an inspection, paint, and a few nick nacks but here that is a great price. I looked at one last year for $3000 it needed a turbo, a brake booster, and it had rust holes over the wheels and rockers. So i think $2000 for you car is a decent deal, especially if the problem with the running is something simple. You may want to get it looked at by a mechanic before buying it to \verify it first. Since something like you described could easliey add up to a lot of money in repairs.
