I put in an aeromotive a1000 pump in my gn about a year ago. No complaints so far. The inlet and outlet sizes are -10, so I found it easiest to run -10 the whole way from the pump to a -10 nos y-block, then branch off to the rails. I should mention that I had wilson manifolds put in -10 rails on the stock intake manifold. As far as price, Precision had a sale on these, so I paid $389.00 for the pump, and $70.00 for an aeromotive -10 filter, probably another $800.00 between the hoses, fittings, and having wilson manifolds do the work on the intake. I can tell you that I was quoted $1400.00 from the local race shop to do all this work, so with the exception of the intake, I did it all myself. I'm sure there is a cheaper way to do all of this, but I was after cosmetics as well as function, hence the anodized purple rails and all the steel braided line. The aeromotive pumps are way worth the money though, good luck with your car. stuart |

Before you start doing this conversion it would probably be a good idea to shop around and see who has the best deals on the pumps, braided hoses, etc. I know that pump is $290.00 all day long at one supplier.

Yeah, stompn is correct, I just pulled my reciept for precision, and it was $289.00, not $389. Sorry about that, still worth the money of course, supports 600 plus horsepower on my car with my 55# injectors.

If this is for the 12 sec car you have listed it would be overkill. That external pump and an-10 lines are not needed untill the 10's. The 340 pump will get to that point.

I agree with Ed. A single 340 will go way down and then the next logical thing is a double pumper. The noisy externals are better suited to pure track cars when it is time for all the mods to install them.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like this is a lot bigger and more costly project than I want to get into. Oh well, at least now I know. ![]() ULYCYC, The time listed in my sig is pretty much old news. The car hasn't been to the track since then, but trust me it has all the parts to run much faster like in the mid/low 11s range once I get it dialed in. While I know even low 11s is well within the capabilities of the 340 I was just thinking about what would be required down the road should I upgrade to a 10 second capable turbo. I agree with both of you, some people's needs are different from others, both of you made good points. For the record though, he asked about an aeromotive pump, and I replied, because I use one on my street driven daily gn. Trbon8r, if I steered you in the wrong direction, my apologies. |

Ben, Stu is right on the money price wise, but to give you a follow up of the stock lines and pumps, I ran 9.70's thru the stock lines and double pumpers. I have since changed over to the Aeromotive pump and #10 feed line, only because my performance levels have increased. I also figured since I was carrying the Aeromotive product line, it was only right for me to use it in my own car before selling it. We have since set up many customers with the Aeromotive pumps and hardware but only when it makes sense to go that route. As an excample I have a customer in Indiana, he is converting an NA regal to a hot rod turbo car, it makes sense for him to go the external way since he is building a low 10 sec. high 9 car with asperations to go faster down the road. By the way, just shipped your parts, was waiting for the hood shocks to come in, they were backordered.... sorry.
