Unhappy bad acceleration,no power

Well after finding my MAF is bad,I just was outside and noticed my fuel pump relay is burned up to the point of melt down. The top of the relay is blown off and it is fried. Will the car still run without a fuel pump?If so,maybe this is the reason for my bad acceleration woes? What do you guys think? The car had been sitting for over a year before
i got it.The problem of bad acceleration seemed to start after sitting said the previous owner.I still havent fixed the problem. When I really gas the car it spark knocks loud and has no power.Surely this may be a fuel pump problem?Do you think my fuel pump is burned up also? Thanks JD

Yikes. Time to pop in a new relay and get the car running decent again before trying to 'accelerate'. After replacing the old relay, feel the new one right after you start the car and see if it gets hot. Last thing you want is a meltdown by the gas tank

Cool

Thanks for the info.It looks like the grey connector plug is OK,but there must be a problem for that to happen.I will keep an eye on the relay and thanks again.

No, these cars will not run without a fuel pump running.
That being said, I must also add that they WILL run without a fuel pump relay. It's bypassed by the oil pressure sending unit once the oil pressure gets up to a point to trigger it. Something like 4-5psi.
