I don't know who's converter you have, but the one I got from Dusty sure feels promising. The short ride I took before hearing unhappy noises from the fresh trans, I saw much quicker spoolup, free revving much easier and 400 more RPM's at zero boost, compared to the Vigilante that I pulled out.
The Vig only gave me 2800 at zero boost, and this PTC hits 3200 no problem.

Unfortunately I have to pull the trans and return it to the builder to see what went wrong. 3 miles on it and it's making noise already. Sumpthuns fukked up.

Well the 3.27's seemed to make a big difference! 25lbs car seemed to run great.

Unfortunately after some "spirited" driving I was cruising home and it sounded like someone threw a wrench in my transmission. Pretty sure I blew the planetary gears. Not sure how with my light car and measly 500 crank HP.

Anywho, pulling it all out again this week. Joy!

Still got high gear. I drove it home about 10 miles. Didn't make any noise at all. If I put it in park, reverse or neutral it sounds horrible. If I drop it in low it doesn't make noise until I try to accelerate. It's hosed for sure. I can buy a planetary gearset for $380 that is rated to 1400hp? Or another set of stockers for $225. From what I've read factory gear sets seem rated at about 700hp. Seems if something is gonna break I' d rather it be the planetary's than the case. Any suggestions on this? Also found these 1.82 stockers with a A steel girdle welded over the housing. Suppose to help strengthen everything. Suppose if I blow it again it would keep everything together in a neat little pile if nothing else.

TCI 745800 GM Powerglide 1.82 Reinforced Shorty Planetary Gear Set

Suggestions? 1.82? 1.76?

Went with the 1.76 gear set again.

Installed everything today. I have the timing down to 19* and I'm no longer seeing knock at 26lbs. I think all the extra compression and crazy low gearing were just to much for the poor little motor on 91 octane, even with the meth inj.

With the 3.27's and lower timing the car feels great, hope the trans stays together this time!

Thanks all.
