LS7 powered widebody FD RX-7 (fresh out of paint)

This is my 4th attempt at posting this. It seems to time out...

Not Buick GN powered; however I thought you guys would like to check it out. Fast street car built for road racing. Built dry sump LS7 (all alum 427ci dry sump), built Camaro T56 6speed, '03 Cobra IRS pumpkin with custom axles, Penske double adj coilovers, Racing Brake Big Brakes, 18x10.5 fronts with 285/30/18's and 18x12.5" rears on 335/30.18's. Tons of other goodies. Page 1 tells of the buildup!

The skinnies are on it just to make it easier to roll around without the motor in it. I'm super happy with the paint... now the challenge not to scratch it upon assembly.

Projected performance:
2900lbs with full tank of fuel, 550-575rwhp n/a on 91 octane (7400rpm redline)
0-60mph in under 3 seconds (1st gear)
0-140mph in 10.5 seconds (1/4 mile)
LS7 dry sump/widebodyFD Project: 6/5/08 - Page 6 - V8 RX-7 Forum

Trying to complete it by 9/25/08! Driveable at least.

small update:
LS7 dry sump/widebodyFD Project: 6/5/08 - Page 10 - V8 RX-7 Forum

Actually my buddy runs an 11:1 416ci LS3 (4" stroke in an LS3 block) with TFS 235 heads/FAST 90 intake/small 236/236 .600" lift 115LSA cam with long tubes that dump into a dual 3" then 3.5" single with Random Technology cat. It made 549rwhp/530rwtq on 91 octane and passed CA sniffer test. Idles perfectly and pulls like a madman from 2500-6500rpm. In his 2900lb RX-7 . Eats up GT3 Porsches on the road course and Z06's.

I took it to Mazda SevenStock (huge RX-7 car show in Irvine, CA at Mazda HQ) on 9/25/08. Wasn't running.... too much to do and lack of proper parts. Lots of stress trying to finish it in time....

Took a month off from working on it due to being super slammed with my own work. Now have a short list to knock out to get it running. Picture of car at the RX-7 show attached and some of the work I completed the week before. The bumper I chose sits sooo low (3.75" off the ground) at the highest setting of my coilovers... it won't work. Car needs to go an inch lower still meaning this bumper would be 2.75" off the ground... so I have to get a different one now. A little pissed about that one! New one at the paint shop already though. The local fabricator wanted $1500 in labor to do a dual 3" into single 3.5" s/s exhaust... I thought he was nuts and own a nice Miller TIG now Other pics are of the suspension, 3.5" Driveshaft Shop Dshaft with Spicer 1350 Ujoints to mate up to the Cobra 8.8" pumpkin, 300M forged steel axles with HD inners and custom outer cups/cages. Also trans mount (super simple and works great) and rollcage (chromemoly 40lb cage good to 10.0's.... door bar not shown...)

A friend with a similar motor/cam LS7 RX-7 and around 3000lbs including driver recently went high 10's@138mph all motor. He went 108mph in the 1/8th mile.... and on his earlier runs went 106mph with a 32mph gain in the 2nd 1/8th mile!!!! In January when the temps are cool it should do 140mph n/a. It is a road race car so it doesn't 60' for beans.

My friend with the 416ci powered RX-7 recently went 10.50@136mph (106mph 1/8 mile) on Nitto NT-01 275/35/18 road race DOT tires! T56 6 speed and setup to road race as well!!!! 7200rpm redline.
