Starting a hybrid build

I was looking into the potential of the 3.8L turbo Buick and became intrigued. I have a 2004 Mustang and it has less balls than a dog that just took that visit to the vet. After reading the latest issue of GM High Tech, I found this site and started looking around. My first and perhaps most important question would be what all do I need to get the swap started? Tools are not an issue. I mean more on the parts side what all do I need? How hard is it to adapt all the wiring to my car? Is this swap more feasible than just buying a GN outright?

I swapped one into a 68 Jeepster - it is not that hard. You can get a stand alone engine harness new from Caspers. That made things much easier - and more reliable than old wiring.

Well I know I cant afford a GN. I was hoping to build something unique. A nice little project for me and the old man.

I'd say go for it. The headaches from it will be temporary and in the end it will be worth it.....if you take the time to read and learn about these engines and their electronics. It will take a few years before you really start to get it, and reading every damn tech post on this board helps haha.

Good luck and post some burnout/launch pics when you are done.

motor

If you can find a complete motor with a trans you half way there. Think about spending about 2k (if your lucky like me) up to 3k for a good stock motor with harness and or trans. I have about 8k or so don't like to think about it but its lots of fun for sure. The mustang guys have it a bit easier than I did that is for sure. There are few mustang swaps on here too.
