| My RX-7 progress Looks like everything will fit ok, just need to make room for the down pipe. Does anyone know what driveshaft pinion flange will bolt to the stock rear. I heard some chrysler will work but dont know what car and year it was used on. |

| Resident Idiot | Hey looks great. I miss my old 2nd gen with the Buick motor. Seems like there was just more room everywhere compared to my 3rd gen RX-7 and the ride was more comfortable. The driveshaft flange was indeed from a chrysler of some sorts. I don't have the part number, or that driveshaft any longer but you can call and ask for George at 407-299-1100 (Advanced Driveline). Tell him you are making a driveshaft for a 2nd gen RX-7 and need the Neapco flange for it. He has a book that will tell him exactly what you need. There is a difference in the flange depending on whether you have the NA RX-7 rear or the TII style rear so make sure you figure that out before calling. If you give George the measurements of the shaft you need they can build it and ship it out to you. I've had many of driveshafts and weird half shafts made there and everything has turned out great. Is this going to have A/C, power steering and all the amenities? Or is this going to be a race car? Wait, will it be both? ![]() What are you planning on doing with the rear end issue? Can't use the stock rear for long, the gears are way too short for this light of a car and you'll have much more success in the 3:1 range (mine was 2.59 with a vette rear). Good luck! ![]()

| Thanks for the positive comments guys, I have worked on the car for a little over a month now, but that includes rebuilding the engine and about a week of head and intake porting. Ive also had some help from friends which always makes the job easier. Thanks for the info on the driveshaft and alternator, although I have just completed the driveshaft today. I found a similar flange with a large u-joint in a salvage yard, just had to weld and redrill the holes to make fit. My primary goal with the car is to have a fast, reliable, daily driver that is capable of 25mpg and will run a minimun of a high 6sec 8th mile and high 10's in the quarter. The car will be fully loaded with power windows,locks, stereo with subs, keyless entry, and sunroof. I completed the power steering yesterday, I plan on having A/C but will probally worry about that before next summer. As for the rearend, I am going to roll with the factory IRS for a while, just to work the bugs out and replenish my funds. Im planning on using a mustang 8.8 with a 2.73 - 3.08 gearing. I know my goals will probally not be met until I can swap the rearend. |

| I got the car running this last Wendsday. I had a little digging to do when I found my new ECM didnt have a chip or calpak. Lucky a buddy of mine lent me one for the time being. Im going to upgrade to 60's and a TT chip later. Im going to use a stock turbo II hood, I lucked out and found one not to long ago. The flat hood would work as well, as the motor sits very low. After a short drive I was pleased with the way my GT35R was spooling with just a stock converter and running off of the 7.5LBS wastegate spring. However I think I have some issues with bump steer at the moment, as the car is very unstable. Anyone have any ideas on how to correct the problem? I'll try to post a couple of action shots in a couple of days, as Ive been busy with odds and ends for a while now. |

| Resident Idiot | Regarding instability, if the rear cv hub nuts are not the proper torque I've found the car to dart all over the road. The torque specs on that nut is somewhere in the 200ft lb range and if you've recently taken the cv's out or otherwise removed that nut it may not have been retightened enough.

| A couple of action shots I've been cruising the rx7 around for several weeks now, and seem to have most of the bugs worked out at the moment. However my 200r4 is going to need a rebuild as 2nd gear is slipping away. The car felt quick to me with only 7.5LBS running off of the wastegate spring and stock injectors for the time being. Just out of couriosity I took it to the track and ran an 8.35 at 87mph. I think it might have broke sevens with a better transmission. I am about ready to pull the motor and start the restoration on the car as my finances are getting back into check. Also a tranny rebuild, injector upgrade, possibly a translator pro and rear end ugrade will be on the to do list. I posted a couple of pics of me trying to finish off some old tires and my buddies rotory powered 3rd gen drag rx7. |

| Looks great! What exhaust manifold is that? I haven't seen the 4 bolt manifolds with the turbo positioned like yours....
