G body hybrid trans crossmember help

For my hybrid project, I obtained the doner GN's 200r4 trans and crossmember, thinking it would be a bolt in, but it looks like it is not. Several people have done the El Camino/LC2 swap. Others have done Monte's and Cutlasses. Could one of you guys steer me in the right direction? Do I drill new holes in the frame, and if so, where? Drivers side? Passenger side? Or do I cut the bracket off the GN crossmember and weld it to the Elco crossmember? What did you guys do?

We did the reverse (I think?) of what you are doing - we replaced the 200R4 in an '85 MCSS with a T350. this required moving the crossmember to a different set of frame holes (yes the holes were already there) just needed to move it.

HTH,

Russ

I just put an LC2 with a BRF 200R4 in an 88 MCSS and used the stock monte's crossmember with a new monte trans mount. Works just fine however my MCSS already had non BRF 200R4 from the factory. Not sure what trans your El Camino has in it now...

Only the 1983 and newer frames have the dual mounts on the passenger side for all of the factory crossmembers. Check out this link 700R4 Gforce Crossmember, A, F, G Body Cars from PATC There should be something here that will make it a bolt in.

Look for a G-body "frame extension".
